Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLEROY (ROY) ADDISON MERNER January 26, 1944 - July 21, 2014 Peacefully, after a courageous battle with cancer, with his daughter, siblings and friends by his side, it is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of LeRoy (Roy) Addison Merner on Monday, July 21, 2014 in Winnipeg, Manitoba at the age of 70 years. Left to cherish Roy's memory are his only daughter Teri-Lee Dubberley (Rob) and granddaughter Ava from Calgary, AB; his mother Marjorie Merner; siblings - Edna (Russ), Greg (Maureen), Terry (Ingrid), Sandra (Bill), Brian (Debbie) and Brad (Gloria); longtime friend Karen Guina and family; numerous nieces; nephews; relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his father, Addison Merner; brother, Randy Merner; nephews Darren Krosney and Sean Thickson. Roy grew up in Elmwood. Life was an adventure. Though, Winnipeg was always his home base, work lead him to many places for many years. Roy was a consummate salesman, he could sell you anything. He loved to read mystery books, but was passionate about watching sports, playing poker and has spent many beautiful days on the golf course - all more enjoyable when there was a wager. When you remember Roy, you will think "what a character!" But, he was a patient man, a man of few words who spoke when he thought there was something to say. Roy had many special relationships with family and friends that cannot be replaced. He enjoyed large family gatherings, reminiscing, debating, and playing games. He absolutely loved and adored his granddaughter Ava. Roy will be missed by all his family and friends, who always appreciated his wonderful sense of humour and unique philosophy of life. A Celebration of Roy's Life will be held on Sunday, July 27, 2014 at the Marlborough Hotel, Churchill Room, 331 Smith Street. Please drop by anytime between 12:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. to pay respects. The family would like to thank the staff of WRHA Palliative Care, as well as the doctors, nurses and staff at Concordia Hospital. Wojcik's Funeral Chapel & Crematorium, 1020 Main Street, 204.586.8668, in care of arrangements. wojciksfuneralchapel.com "Rest In Peace"

I remember Roy as a quiet reserved guy, and believed him to be bigger than life. I'm not a religious person but if there is a heaven, you deserve to have a place there. My heart goes out to his family as they grieve the passing another good man. - Posted by: Derek Whiteside (acquaintance ) on: Jul 27, 2014

To my brother-in-law: You truly were a strong man in every sense. The battle you fought was courageous and honorable, a warrior-indeed in my eyes. How you went through all its ugly darts is truly amazing. May God/Creator take you home safely with guidance on your journey and with all our love! Terry and I will carry your spirit with us always and never forget July 21st, as this is your brother's birthday. It will be an honor to share that day with you. Love, Terry and Ingrid. - Posted by: Ingrid (sister-in-law) on: Jul 27, 2014

Roy was a true friend whom I have not seen for some years, but he was always on my mind. I don't dare tell of our adventures except the good times we use to have as kids and later on as adults. Our best was our trip to California in 1963 which i cannot begin to detail. I WILL miss you old friend and my condolences to Marge and all his siblings. I WILL always remember you old friend. - Posted by: mervin matiation (great friend) on: Jul 26, 2014
