EILEEN MAE MCVARISH
Date of Passing: Jul 30, 2014
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEILEEN MAE MCVARISH Eileen passed away on July 30, 2014 at Concordia Hospital, at the age of 88 years. She leaves to cherish her memory, daughter Susan; granddaughters Tara (Derek) and Roberta (Angus); four great-grandchildren, Michaela, Madison, Noah and Quinn; and sister Win. She was predeceased by her husband Leo, parents Ida and George and infant sister Patricia Grace. Eileen was born in Kenora, Ontario. After moving to Winnipeg, she attended Lord Selkirk School. Her first job was working for the Audit Office at the Bay. She later started her own business called "Tara's Gift Haven" in the 1970s. She had an astute entrepreneurial spirit. She held many jobs in her life, but her favourite was working at the Winnipeg Free Press, in the Classified Department, where she worked until her retirement. Mom loved her family and time spent at Barren Lake, where she made many friends. As a young woman she loved horses, dancing, music and was a real people person. In younger days she took many a trip on the "Moonlight Special" train to the dance pavilion at Winnipeg Beach. She was a great cook and loved to entertain. Everyone who knew her thought she was a real "character." As she requested, there will be no funeral service. Cremation has taken place. A private memorial service will be held at a future date. The family wishes to thank the following people for their care and kindness to Eileen - Dr. E. Halmarson, nurse Jan, care-givers Linda and Susan and all the Doctors and staff of N 3 East at Concordia Hospital. NEIL BARDAL FUNERAL CENTRE 204-949-2200 neilbardalinc.com
