MATTHEW BROCK CHISLETT
Date of Passing: Aug 03, 2014
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMATTHEW BROCK CHISLETT Our loving brother, Matthew Brock Chislett, passed away August 3, 2014. Matt was 55 years old and a truly exceptional person. Matthew had a long and distinguished career as a Civil Engineer. In 1983, he graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Master of Science in Engineering, and went on to work for UMA Engineering Inc., Reid Crowther Partners Ltd., M. M. Dillon Ltd., the Province of Manitoba, and finally, the City of Winnipeg. Matthew was a bridge rehabilitation expert and was responsible for many projects within Winnipeg and the surrounding area. Growing up, Matt spent countless summer days at the family cottage on Lee River, swimming, sailing, and waterskiing. Later, Matt travelled to numerous locations in Europe, including England, Italy, France, and Portugal. At home, Matthew attended the same dinner club for over 25 years and valued those friendships. Yet for many, the first thing associated with Matt was his passion for gliding. He owned his own plane, instructed others, and flew around places like Starbuck, MB and Invermere, BC. He treasured time with his friends of the Winnipeg Gliding Association. Matthew was gentle, kind, easy going, yet still a stickler for uncompromised quality. He will be terribly missed by colleagues, friends, and family. Matthew was predeceased by his mother and father, Muriel and Wilfred Chislett. He leaves behind his brother, Robert Mark Chislett (Karen Kehler) and sister, Nancy Ruth Chislett (Grant Ganczar). He also leaves behind his nephew and niece, Kevin and Shawn Chislett (Todd Hersak). A memorial service will be held at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St., West St. Paul, on Friday, August 8, at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Riverview Health Centre.
