AGNES BEGNINE PHILOMENE LAFONTAINE (nee VUIGNIER) Agnès passed away peacefully on August 7, 2014 at the age of 88. Agnès was born in Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes, the 20th child of 21 born to Jean-Baptiste and Madeleine Vuignier. She was predeceased by her husband Norman Lafontaine. Agnès is survived by two sisters Marie-Ange Gamma (Wilfred) and Sister Odile Vuignier, her two step-daughters Linda Lafontaine (Cliff Bishop) and Sandra Lafontaine, two grandsons Anthony Guerra Lafontaine (great-grandson Nolan) and Mathew Guerra Lafontaine (Krystal Vielfaure), many nieces and nephews, relatives and friends, in particular Sister Claire. Agnès entered the order of Soeurs Chanoinesse Des Cinq Plaies Du Sauveur in 1954 and remained in that order for many years leaving the secular life to work at St. Mary's Cathedral Parish in 1981. She married Norman Lafontaine and were married 29 years until his passing in 2010. During their marriage they enjoyed travelling, bingo, and spending time with her family in Notre-Dame. She was especially appreciative of Odile's organizational skills as she moved from her family home to supportive and assisted living. Agnès loved flowers, reading, praying and was very generous in her donating to charities. She looked forward to her weekly visits from her grandsons and great-grandson and was named Super Gamma by them. She was a kind soul. The family would like to thank the staff and Ward 3DE Actionmarguerite (St. Boniface) for their loving care. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 16 at Holy Family Parish, 778 Archibald Street. DESJARDINS 233-4949 1-888-233-4949 www.desjardinsfuneralchapel.ca
