DOLORES LEA HEBERT July 16, 1944 - August 15, 2014 It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our sister, Dolores Léa Hébert. She died after a brief but valiant battle with cancer at the Health Sciences Centre, in Winnipeg. Dolores was predeceased by her mother, Liliane (Thuot) and her father, Maurice Hébert. She will be sadly missed by her siblings: Ken (Gloria), Denis (Della), John (Roslyn), Pierrette, Rene (Jean), and Gilles (Nancy). As well, Dolores was the gregarious and engaged aunt of numerous nieces and nephews. She had a huge number of friends and colleagues with whom she enjoyed special status. The family would especially like to acknowledge the tremendous love and support of numerous great friends. Roy Fossum who travelled a great distance to see Dolores deserves special thanks. Freda Hebert was a remarkable companion and supporter for Dolores during her final days. Dolores was a teacher and principal throughout her adult life. She maintained a very active social life and was both a great host and a favorite guest at various events, locally and beyond. A world traveller, she enjoyed surrounding herself with the souvenirs and mementos from her favorite destinations. Dolores was always the life of the party. She will be missed. Donations in her name can be made to the Mood Disorders Association of Manitoba. A funeral mass will take place at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at Holy Cross Church, 252 Dubuc Street. Condolences & Memories (28 entries)

  • I am truly shocked and saddened to hear of Dolores' passing. I'll always remember Dolores as a very funny woman, larger than life. We kept in touch for quite a while when our mutual friend, Donna Pierson Watt passed away. The last time I saw Dolores was at the DND reunion at the Norwood Hotel where she was Master of Ceremonies. She had us all in stitches. She was electrifying that night not only in wit and humour but in apparel as well. Her top was flamboyant and my husband asked her if that thing lit up. We all had a good laugh. That's how I'll remember her. She was in her glory. I offer my sincere sympathies to Pierrette and Gilles (Nancy) and the whole family. - Posted by: Léonne Brisson-Kelsch (friend, DND colleague) on: Oct 06, 2014

  • I (Marilyn) met Dolores my first year teaching in Shilo. We were the "city" girls from Wpg. Except for 2 weekends she, Bev and I left the base for home..... Bev to Westbourne Dolores and I to Wpg. Although Dolores only stayed in Shilo for one year we kept in touch. Our annual one day meeting in Portage were treasures. We always found someone to take our picture in front of Tim's. When we lost Bev last year (shortly after our final get together) we vowed to continue to meet. Unfortunately that did not happen. I am so sorry that I didn't get to say goodbye. We were on holiday and I just read about her death in KIT today. Our condolences to the family. - Posted by: Marilyn and Dale Lund (close friend and collegue in Shilo) on: Sep 29, 2014

  • I was heart broken to hear of Dolores passing. I taught with Dolores in Germany many years ago and always had such fond memories of her. Little did I know that years later I would end up in Winnipeg where I worked with Dolores on the RWTA. She was an amazing lady! I did not hear about this until today. My love and prayers go out to the family. Love Leota and Wayne Turner - Posted by: Leota turner (Friend) on: Sep 05, 2014

  • A true lady. Always full of passion and humor. Dolores lit up a room. She will be missed. - Posted by: Manuel Silva (Colleague) on: Aug 16, 2014

  • It has been a month of sadness since hearing the news of her health. We all grew up in the same area, went to the academy and some like Delores went on to a higher education which led her into teaching. I am sure her personality would have had an impact on many young people. In our get togethers with our school companions Delores brought such a "Joie De Vivre" to the table. She embraced life. We will never hear that voice again. C'est un grand tristess. - Posted by: Magdeleine ( Maggie ) Nishimura (early childhood school companion ) on: Aug 16, 2014
