BETTY HILDA DAVIES (EASTON)
Born: Mar 09, 1927
Date of Passing: Aug 10, 2014
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBETTY HILDA DAVIES (nee EASTON) March 9, 1927 August 10, 2014 It is with extreme sadness we said goodnight to our Mum for the last time, she will live forever in our hearts. Our Mum always let her "6 lil' chickadees" know how much she loved us. We will DEARLY miss her. Our Mum was born and raised in Holloway, Islington, England, along with her two younger brothers, Stanley Easton and George (a.k.a. Harry) Easton. She was predeceased by her parents, Winnifred Balstone in 1953 and Albert Easton in 1987. Betty attended school in England. She enrolled and worked in the British Land Army, Wrens Division in the Second World War. In April, 1949 Betty said farewell to her family and boarded the ocean ship "Britanica" to Canada. She travelled by train to Winnipeg, MB, to marry Edward Benjamin France Davies. Ben and Betty met in England and arranged to be married. Together they raised their six children, Corrine, Diane, Brian, Roy, Pamela and Glen in Winnipeg, MB. Betty was predeceased by her husband Ben, March 15 1999, her son Roy, May 1, 2009, and her grandson Lewis, April 1, 2011. She leaves to mourn her children and their families; Corrine (Dave Blackmore), Diane (Al Rushworth), Brian (Joanne Davies), Roy (Marcia Davies), Pamela Kubicz-Davies and Glen (Karen Clearwater-Davies) along with her brothers, Stanley and Harry Easton. Betty was a very proud "Nana" to her 14 grandchildren; Danielle Daigle (Steven MacPherson), Lewis Daigle, Kyle Rushworth, Ian Rushworth (Jocelyn), Shaun, Kristianne and Melissa Davies, Jason Davies (Dawn Robertson), Owen Davies, Jennifer and Thomas Bewza, Alina Kubicz and Aidan and Liam Davies. Betty loved visits from her five great-grandchildren; Ainsley, Aaron and Porter Davies, Ewan and Madeleine MacPherson. She will also be sadly missed by all of her relatives from the Easton and Davies family with many nieces, nephews and cousins. Her family will sincerely miss her knowledge of arts and crafts, her wisdom with house and garden plants, her love for the Royal Winnipeg Ballet and the Royal Family. Our Mum spent many years with Girl Guides of Canada and was affectionately known to many friends and associates as "Mrs. Brown-Owl". Through most of the 1980s and 90s, our Mum was employed with Ormistons Florist, Sears in the catalogue department and head of The Bay in the horticultural department. Our Mum (with our Dad as her chauffeur), also did volunteer work at Oakview Place and Maples Personal Care Home. Together they took great pride being involved with the Winnipeg Horticultural Group, proudly entering prize winning tomatoes, squash and sensational floral arrangements. Our Mum had a flair for making holiday celebrations memorable - almost fairy tale for her children. At Christmas our stockings stuffed with goodies and placed at the foot of our bed. Halloween she spent hours making our costumes, at times taking first prize, we will always remember "Fairy Good Enough"... Thank you for so many fond, loving and fun memories Mum!!! Our family wishes to thank many people involved with our Mum's care over the years. The staff and friends at Villa Hidelberg The staff and friends at Riverwood Square and finally the wonderful nursing staff, support aids and friends on T4 at Deer Lodge Center. In lieu of flowers, we would ask that all interested in honouring Betty Davies make a donation in her name to The Winnipeg Pet Rescue Center, 3062 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3K 0Y1. It would be greatly appreciated by our family. A memorial service celebrating our Mum's life will be held on Monday, August 18, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg. Words cannot express the sympathy I feel on the passing of your Mum. I have many fond memories of your Mum, doing a May Day dance around the pole in Brownies, when she insisted I put on a cardigan over my Halloween costume because it was too cold, the frozen long johns lined up at the back door or the constipated soup, just to mention a few. My sincere condolences to the family. - Posted by: Wendy Rand (Friend of family) on: Aug 16, 2014

What a wonderful lady!! What a wonderful sense of humor she shared. We'll forever remember her line "Betty Davies the name- but not the fame." Betty was a wonderful person and we shared many good times and stories while Betty was a resident here at The Landing at Riverwood Square. We certainly miss her and will always remember. Best wishes to all of her family, our thoughts are with you at this time. Linda - Posted by: Linda Sherrin (Friend) on: Aug 16, 2014
