ANNE TRAKALO (nee CAPAR) Peacefully, on Wednesday, August 13, 2014, Anne Trakalo (nee Capar), beloved wife of the late Steve Trakalo passed away. Left to mourn her passing are brothers Bill (Irene), and Harry (Diane); sister Mary; sister in-law Jean; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her husband Steve, Anne was predeceased by her parents Alex and Martha (Lubinski); brothers George, Peter, Mike, Nick and Steve. Anne was born on January 20, 1924 in Rembrandt, Manitoba. At age 3, the family moved to Meleb. There Anne lived until moving to Winnipeg to find employment as a waitress. In 1950, Anne married John Kolody, and became a widow only one week later as a result of a tragic accident. In 1954, Anne married Steve Trakalo. Together they worked for several years in Winnipeg, but the lure of the country brought both of them back to Meleb in 1969. Together they built a new home, farmed and developed a beautiful park-like yard in which both Anne and Steve took great pride. It was also the setting for many happy family gatherings. After Steve's passing in 1989, Anne continued to live on the farm for another 10 years. In 1999, she moved to Cedar Lodge in Teulon, where she resided with her many new friends until her passing. Anne will be remembered for her strong commitment to family. She was always there to assist anyone any time. She was also strongly committed to her Ukrainian Catholic faith and was a long time member of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church in Meleb. Anne always kept very active. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing and knitting. Visitors would always go home with either vegetables or a hand-made product, like her famous brightly-coloured knitted slippers. In retirement, Anne enjoyed countless hours reading. She loved biographies of famous people. Prayers will be held on Thursday, August 21, 7:00 p.m., at the Mackenzie Funeral Chapel, Teulon. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 22, 10:30 a.m., at the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church in Meleb. Interment to follow at the Meleb Cemetery with Fr. Harry Chuckry officiating. Vichnaya Pamyat MACKENZIE FUNERAL HOME STONEWALL 204-467-2525 mackhome@mts.net
