Bob and I spent many years at Winnipeg depot, 1978 to 1983. Being his junior, he taught me a lot, we were friends as well as comrades. I regret I did not keep up our friendship after his retirement. I am saddened by his passing, Bob will be running the tool crib in heaven, probably smoking a cigar. Save me a screwdriver Bob I'll catch you in heaven. I was so sad to hear of Bob's passing. He was one of my all time favourite fitness class participants. He will be greatly missed at our classes and I will miss that energetic warm smile of his. - Posted by: Kathy M Diehl Cyr (Fitness Instructor for Bob at the YMCA/YWCA of Winnipeg) on: Aug 18, 2014

It was with great sadness that Val and I learned about Bob's death. He was a great friend and comrade, who was always at the forefront of any tribute services or funerals for fellow veterans. I was honoured to be the Padre for the Korea Vets, and worked with Bob many times in planning services and social events. May his family and comrades know that he is in a better place and we will miss him very much. May he Rest in Peace and Rise in Glory!- Rev. Gordon and Val Shields - Posted by: Rev.
