THELMA MAY OLSON It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Thelma Olson on August 19, 2014 at the Victoria General Hospital in Winnipeg. Thelma was born on May 5, 1931 in Fisher Branch, MB. She was the youngest of four daughters and is predeceased by her sisters; Lila and Rita and survived by her sister Harriett. She married Oli Olson and they settled in Moose Jaw where she was active as a volunteer with Little League baseball. It was in Moose Jaw where she became an accomplished bowler and was a member of the provincial 5 pin team. Oli and Thelma moved to Sandy Hook (near Gimli) after Oli's retirement and Mom went to work as the Director of the Winnipeg Beach Tiny Tots. She also volunteered for many years with the Manitoba Special Olympics through her association with HusiGim. Mom will be dearly missed by Ingrid, Leif (Susan), Mark (Debbie), Bill (Leslie) and Lynn (Doug) as well as her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, many friends and extended family. Right to the end, Mom's primary concern was the health and happiness of others before her own. Mom, you may have left us; but your unconditional love, positive outlook and valuable life lessons will never be forgotten and will live on with us. Cremation has taken place and honoring Mom's wishes there will not be a funeral. Family members will gather to celebrate her life. The family would like to thank the staff of the Victoria Hospital for their loving care during Mom's final two months. If friends so desire, memorial contributions can be made to the Victoria General Hospital Foundation, 2340 Pembina Hwy., Winnipeg, MB R3T 9Z9.
