CLAUDE GARTON June 6, 1942 August 20, 2014 Peacefully on August 20, 2014 Claude Harry Hugh Garton of Stony Mountain passed away after a short but intense battle with cancer at the age of 72. Claude was born in Poplar Point, MB on June 6, 1942. He moved to Carman, MB in 1958, Calgary in 1968 then to Winnipeg in 1975. Most recently he resided in Stony Mountain, MB, where he moved one year after the passing of his beloved wife, Doreen Marie Garton (nee Lavallee) whom he lovingly called "Dottie", in 2010. Left to mourn are his son Ed (Laura) grandchildren Alannah and Cole; daughters Cindy (Terry) granddaughter Justine (Cody) great-grandson Luke and grandson Tyler (Marissa); Rhonda, grandson Kevin (Jessica) and great-grandchildren Darrien and Damien. He also leaves beloved sisters Marilyn McFarlane (nieces Corinna McFarlane (god-daughter) and Carissa McFarlane) of Calgary, AB and Joan Chaboyer of Winnipeg, MB. Also numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws, outlaws and friends. Special long-time friends Marcia and Wayne Bruce will forever miss both Claude and Doreen. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Pannu and the fabulous nurses and support staff at Stonewall Hospital. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2014 at 2:30 p.m. at the MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, 433 Main Street, Stonewall, Manitoba. A memorial service will take place at MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, 433 Main Street, Stonewall on Saturday, August 23 at 2:30 p.m. Longer obituary to follow in Saturday's paper.
