Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHARRIET TURK After a long, full life Harriet Turk died peacefully on August 21, 2014 at Donwood Manor. Predeceased by her parents Harold and Ella Drewe, son-in-law Ken, sister Marge, nephew Matthew, and beloved husband of 65 years, John. Harriet leaves to mourn her passing her brother Fred, children: Lorraine (Michael), Karyn, Jack (Karen); grandchildren: Jamie, Sean, Terryl (Greg), Chris (Nancy), Curtis, Patrick (Melanie), Colleen (Chris); great-grandchildren: Logan, Maxwell, Hayden, Chloe, Turk, Sage and Oliver; nieces: Linda, Jenny (son Jacob), and nephew, Colin (Melinda, sons James and Matthew). Harriet was born October 16, 1923 at 123 Luxton Avenue in Winnipeg. Part of her childhood was spent in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Chicago where she started school, before returning to Winnipeg. In 1940 she met the love of her life John. They were married in 1944 and raised three children. Car trips with the family and trips to Europe and Cuba with friends brought her great joy. She was skilled at knitting and crocheting. Harriet was a proud NDP supporter. Family and church were the center of her life, many of her closest friends are part of her church community. The love and support she received from her church family helped her through troubled times and supported her with love the last days of her life. The family would like to thank the staff at Donwood 2 South for the kind and loving care she received. Harriet lived at 2 South for one year, seven months and during this time she made many new friends who enriched her life. Cremation has taken place and a service to celebrate her life will be held Friday, August 29, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Immanuel United Church, 755 Golspie Street at Kimberly Avenue. Reverend Nancy Sanders presiding. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Immanuel United Church Mission and Service Memorial Fund, 755 Golspie Street, Winnipeg, MB, R2K 2V4 or a charity of your choice. MY SINCERE SYMPATHIES TO HARRIET'S FAMILY. SHE WOULD COME OUT TO HER GRANDPARENTS PASTOR AND MRS. DAMSKOV AT OSTENFELD DURING SUMMER HOLIDAYS.
