Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDORIS ARLINE NEWALL (nee RAVEN) On August 21, 2014 at Concordia Hospital, Doris passed away peacefully with family at her side. Doris was born in Toronto on January 1, 1918, daughter to Vincent and Annie Raven and sister to Ruth. At a young age, Doris and her family moved to Winnipeg's Wolsely area where Doris lived until she married Harold in 1942. Many happy summers were spent with family and friends at Matlock Beach, Gull Lake and Hillside Beach. Doris was always interested in sports and was especially active in golf and curling at Rossmere Golf & Country Club. Over the years, she served on many Committees making lasting friendships and enjoying social activities provided at the Club. Her several Bridge Clubs which spanned 60 years were very special to Doris. Of interest in latter years was travel with highlights being her trips to Europe and her cruises with the family to the Caribbean. She particularly relished a good mystery book and the musical works of both popular classical artists and crooners. Her greatest pride and joy was her family and their many interests, activities and achievements. She will be missed and her memory will be cherished as Doris was a dear mother to her children Pat (Rick) Harman, John (Cathy) Newall and Bill (Donna) Newall, a devoted grandmother to Rhonda (Blaine Early), Donna (Ross) Rybak, Trevor Harman, Scott Newall and Jamie Newall and a doting great-grandmother to Laney, Logan and Rickay Harman, Braedon Rybak, Bret and Miranda Early. Doris was predeceased by her husband Harold, her sister Ruth and her granddaughter Samantha Newall. The care given to Doris by Dr. Ormiston and all of the very special staff on N1N and N1S was greatly appreciated and comforting to all of the family. In accordance with Doris's wishes, there will not be a formal service. Dear Patty, John and Billy - do so remember the times growing up together, building leaf houses in your back yard and how your mother and mine were good friends - i.e. Clara Gallimore - remember seeing Doris at Gert Pydee's memorial service and talking to both you Pat and your Mom. Many cherished memories of days gone by - especially the "fire works" we used to have. Thoughts and prayers with you all. So sorry to hear the loss of your mom/grandmother/.... We were neighbors growing up, living only 2 houses away on the Drive for over 55 years. My brother Doug is friends with Billy and grew up with him in our neighborhood of Kildonan Drive, Many fond memories... playing hide n seek with all the kids in the area, running out to play after supper and staying out till dark, until all of our mom's yelled out the front door for us to come in - no cell phones or internet back then!..... remembered Mrs. Newall as such a friendly and happy lady, she always smiled and waved as she drove by or walked by our home. She will be missed as a long time good neighbor in our community, ..... our condolences to you and your family, Sincerely, Toby and Mary Lynn Desmarais - Posted by: Mary Lynn Desmarais (nee Bakuska) (neighbor) on: Aug 26, 2014

Patty, Rick and family, My sympathy on the loss of your mother. I enjoyed curling with her and she was always so patient and unflappable. A perfect skip. It is a small world as my daughter and son-in-law, Wendy and Bruce Boroski know Bill. - Posted by: Marianne McClusky (Old Friend) on: Aug 25, 2014

Hi Newly, My condolences on the loss of your Mom. She almost made it to 100! She was always great to your friends. She had a kind of skeptical smile, from my memory. I always remember sitting in your basement and the heat would blast from the ceiling vent as if from a leaf blower. I cycle past your old house on occasion and always look to see if your mom or you are outside. I don't know if she still lived there but I never saw the house up for sale, so I assumed she did. Your mom always kept herself in great shape, after all. On a historic walking tour of Kildonan Drive, tour leader Jim Smith said that your neighbour's house, between you and the Bakuskas', is an old Eaton house, one of those houses you ordered through the Eaton's catalogue and put together yourself. It's been added onto, of course. Very sorry to hear about your loss, Bill. Take care....Bill Redekop - Posted by: Bill Redekop (friend) on: Aug 25, 2014
