ALICE PLUMPTRE
Born: Dec 13, 1933
Date of Passing: Aug 22, 2014
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALICE PLUMPTRE December 13, 1933 - August 22, 2014 It is with deepest sadness that we announce that Alice Plumptre, age 80, passed away on August 22, 2014. She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by her son Jim (Marina), daughter Darlene (Mike), granddaughters Nicole and Samantha, brothers Bill and Norman (Ingrid), sisters Lilly, Irene, Marjorie, Alma (Herman) and Violet, and numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws. She was predeceased by her husband of 59 years Roy, parents Ole and Ingrid, brothers Ed, Olaf, Clarence and Bert, and sister Betty. Alice also leaves to mourn friends too numerous to count. Alice lived most of her life in Teulon, working extremely happily as the most popular waitress in town until she very reluctantly retired at the age of 78. Alice touched many with her kindness and thoughtfulness, and she dearly loved to make new friends. As many have pointed out, there wasn't a person in town who didn't know and love Alice. She will be missed by all. The family wishes to thank the staff of the Teulon Hunter Memorial Hospital and Dr. Rezazadeh for the outstanding care Alice received during her illness. At Alice's request, no funeral service will take place. After cremation, interment will be private. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, if friends so wish, a donation to the Teulon Hunter Memorial Hospital in Alice's name will be most appreciated. Jim, Darlene and family. You are in my heart and in my thoughts. I have such fond memories of Aunt Alice. She was so young at heart, and had a wonderful sense of humor. - Posted by: Carole (Olson) Ross (Niece) on: Aug 31, 2014

I'm going to miss you and our coffee times together. Also, the cookies I made that you liked so much. The shopping at the malls in winnipeg were a riot. Remember Ole and his card games? He sure got mad when he lost in the game of hearts. You won most of the time and of course I lost. God bless you. - Posted by: Marjorie Fox (Sister) on: Aug 29, 2014

Alice was a terrific person. She was so kind and caring always careful not to offend anyone. She always made a point to ask after my boys as she worked with both of them at the golf course. Alice, you will be so missed! Sincere sympathy to Darlene and Mike and Samantha and to Jim, Marina and Nicole. - Posted by: Doreen Demianiw (friend) on: Aug 28, 2014

Alice will be greatly missed. Her sweet joking that left me with a smile on my face every time she popped in to Bigway to get a few things. You were a ray of sunshine on the most hectic of days. Alice sweetie, keep them all on their toes up there in heaven! - Posted by: Debra McCrindle (friend) on: Aug 27, 2014

To the family, our deepest sympathy. Alice was a legend in her own time. Her caring friendly loving personality was special and unique to her. Our hearts are sad thinking we will not see that smiling face, nor receive anymore of those hugs. Heaven has received one of the best! - Posted by: Miles and Brenda Tarrant (Friend) on: Aug 27, 2014

My sincere condolences to Alice's family. She was a kind and caring woman and a fixture in the Teulon community. Her son Jim was my first guitar teacher, and Alice sometimes made me a cup of coco when I was waiting for either Mum or Dad to come pick me up. She will be missed by all who had the amazing good fortune to know her. Rest in peace Alice.... xox - Posted by: Shannon Gesell-McKay (Friend) on: Aug 27, 2014

Alice was a great lady who was loved by all. She will be missed by everyone. I have many fond memories of Alice, my favourite being coming to the G & L with my grandparents & parents. Alice would call me Shirley after Shirley Kunzelmen then have a big smile and a hug. I will miss seeing her smiling face. - Posted by: Lana Knor (friend) on: Aug 27, 2014

My heartfelt condolences to both of you Jim and Darlene, and to your families. The world is never quite the same without your parents by your side. I will always remember Auntie Alice's warm and inviting nature and her beautiful smile. I am sure her parents, brothers and sister gone before her are welcoming her with open arms and your Dad is holding her close. May she rest in peace. Alice, what can one say about Alice. Kind, gentle full of spunk. She was my mentor when it came to waitressing. She taught me that the customer was always right even if I didn't. People always think of waitresses as just a person that brings your food but really they are a person that strives to give their best service and everything for the customer, that was Alice. She was the best at what she did and gave people her best. She made sure the customer was treated right and was satisfied with the food and service. She was one of a kind and I thoroughly enjoyed working with her and having a rye and ginger after work. I will miss her at our Goodwin lodge teas at our baker table, no one can take her place. I did and will always think that she was a wonderful person and she always took the time to talk to me and tell me how good a worker I was. I will miss her dearly and will never forget her. Rest in peace my friend!! - Posted by: michelle hazelton (friend, former co-worker) on: Aug 26, 2014

Oh my goodness what a privilege and honor to have called Alice my friend and co-worker. She trained me on my VERY first job at G & L Restaurant in Teulon. We shared many of our breaks together in front of the big picture window at the restaurant and any time I visited Teulon we always shared smiles and hugs about how much we enjoyed working together. What a GREAT mentor she was. I will truly miss her. - Posted by: Ann Stout (Coverdale) (former co-worker and Teulon resident) on: Aug 26, 2014

Alice was a lively person with no end in sight. Her memory will carry on with us as she was close to our hearts.
