Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryARNOLD R. GRAHAM June 4, 1918 - August 23, 2014 It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing, with family at his side, of our dad, grandpa, great-grandpa and uncle, Arnold Graham on the morning of August 23, 2014, after a lengthy illness. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 53 years, Marion, brother Percy, as well as several in-laws, nieces and nephews. Left to mourn his loss are his children Linda, Ken (Sherry), grandchildren Jennifer Chorney (Dave), Amanda Bernier (Jonathan), Daniel and Jessie, great-grandchildren Andrew, Zachary, Brayden and Hudson, sister-in-law Kay Graham as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Dad was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba and grew up on the family farm in the RM of Rosser. After the death of his father he and his mother moved from the farm to Winnipeg. Dad joined the Army in 1942 and transferred to the Air Force in 1943. Dad was always proud of his years of service as a Wireless Air Gunner in the R.C.A.F. He served for a short time overseas at the end of the war and left the Air Force in 1946. After the Air Force, Dad worked for the Ford Motor company and later was employed by Trans Canada Airlines/Air Canada for almost 30 years until his retirement in 1981. Dad met the love of his life Marion, at a dance in Winnipeg and they were married on February 8, 1947. They moved into their first home on Rosedale Avenue where they welcomed their daughter Linda and later moved to Minto Street where their family was completed with the arrival of their son Ken. They raised their family in the Minto Street house and lived there for 42 years before moving to a condo on Grant Avenue in 1995. His final move was to the Metropolitan Kiwanis Courts where he spent his last few years and made many new friends. Dad was always the family and neighbourhood Mr. Fix-it. There were very few things around the house, car or garage that he could not fix. Even in his last years he always had the ability to repair almost anything that his friends and neighbours would bring to him. He loved his time with friends in the Wartime Pilots and Observers Association as well as his participation with the Pionairs retirees group from Air Canada. Dad was always there for his family and friends and could always be counted on to lend a hand, volunteer his help or just be there when someone needed help. Helping others was simply a way of life for him until his last days when he could no longer physically do it. More than anything he just cared about people and wanted to help others. Special thanks to Dr. Russ Albak for his caring expertise and kindness for so many years. Thank-you also to Doctors Borrett and Macek and the staff of the fifth floor of the Grace Hospital for their care and compassion in Dad's final days. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 29, 2014 at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB. Deepest Sympathy Linda and Ken and Family. I remember how good your Dad was and I was always welcomed into your home. I have often wondered where you were Linda and everyone else who lived on Minto Street. It was the best street in the world! I lost my Mom 3 years ago, my Sister, Hope 2 years ago and Dad last year. I understand your pain. Candice Holmes, Ste. Anne, Mb - Posted by: Candice Holmes you knew me as Candice Mayo (neighbour 833 Minto street) on: Sep 02, 2014
