Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRUTH ELIN MCLEAN June 10, 1948 - August 24, 2014 Ruth Elin McLean (née Perlmutter) was a beloved and inspiring figure to all who knew her. To her family she was a loyal and endearing sister, a kind and forgiving wife, a courageous and compassionate mother, and a gentle and matriarchal grandmother. Within her community she was a respected and dedicated contributor, a champion of hope and recovery, and a thoughtful and dependable friend. Within her faith she was an admired and devout disciple, unwavering in her moral devotion and commitment to serving others, and to improving herself day by day. She was also a gifted poet, conveying her sentiments, convictions, and encouragements powerfully through verse, which she freely shared with all she knew. We will miss the warmth and strength she radiated in spite of life's difficulties. She was never afraid to ask for help, and surrounded herself with supportive and positive influences; always insightful enough to give back in her own special way. Her love and example continue to shine on. You are an inspiration - we love you. A memorial service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 45 Dalhousie Drive at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday September 6, 2014. To the family of my dear friend Ruth. Deepest sympathies at the loss of truly unique and wonderful, Mom and Grandmother. I first met Ruth when I was a full-time missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She powerfully testified of the truths of the gospel to her future husband Norman. He joined the Church and together Ruth and Norman were an influence for good. I send my best wishes to her sons and pray that the Lord will bless you during this difficult time. God bless you all. I went to high school with Ruth and often wondered what happened to her.....while she and I were acquaintances she impacted my life and saddened that our paths never crossed again as I would have liked getting caught up on how her future unfolded. My deepest condolences to her family and friends. - Posted by: Clare Eliuk (Friend) on: Aug 31, 2014

Ruth helped out with our dinners here in the block. Even though she was busy. she would rush home to help cook and set up and had enough energy to help clean up and stay to the end. I enjoyed talking to her about her sons and very proud when she became a grandmother. I will miss her dearly, her hand shakes and her smile. I'm so glad we got to talk a bit when she came home on Saturday from the lake. GOD BLESS her family. - Posted by: Rose Daniels (friend and neighbor) on: Aug 30, 2014

Whoever wrote this certainly knew our Ruthie and has so aptly described all her wonderful qualities. I was privileged to help her type out the poems in her second book of poetry and we became close friends during that time. She was one of the best people in my life and I know she is sitting at the Savior's feet. Farewell, dear friend, till we meet again. - Posted by: Cheryl Panisiak (Friend) on: Aug 30, 2014
