RAY SHEPPARD 1966 - 2014 Ray Sheppard, died tragically on Wednesday, August 27, 2014. Ray was born in Truro, NS, on December 21, 1966. He attended Sir James Dunn High School in Sault Ste. Marie, ON. At the age of 17, Ray joined the military. He served honourably with 2nd Battalion Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry and with the 2nd Commando Airborne Regiment during that time. Ray met his future wife, Sherry, in St. John's, NL in 1987. They were married in 1990. Ray and Sherry moved to Alberta that same year. In 1993 Ray was posted to Winnipeg. He retired from the military in 1999. After his military service, Ray worked a variety of jobs, trying to find his true passion. In 2004 Ray began working as a spray foam applicator. He started his own insulation company in 2007 with the birth of Airborne Insulation. Ray travelled extensively with his work, taking on projects in North Western Ontario, Resolute Bay, Fort McMurray and much of Manitoba. Ray had an unparalled work ethic. He would go non-stop until the job was done - often times not eating or sleeping. While living in Wainwright, AB, Ray volunteered with Big Brothers and Scouts Canada. Ray followed in his father's and grandfather's footsteps when he joined the Masonic Order in 1992. He later served as Master of Cornerstone Lodge. He was also a member of Khartum Shrine. Ray was a force of nature. He moved through life at top speed. He filled a room with his presence. Ray was generous beyond measure. He took great pride in his work with Airborne Insulation. Ray dealt with his customers respectfully and went above and beyond to ensure that they were satisfied. Ray leaves to mourn his wife of 24 years, Sherry and their five beloved dogs, Chloe, Aysha, Raven, Callen and Ziva, his father, Jack Sheppard, his brother, Russell Sheppard and his sister, Kelly Sheppard, nieces, nephews and numerous friends. Ray was predeceased by his mother, Stella Sheppard (Bennett) in 2008 and his much adored dog of 16 years, Tipper in 2013. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Avenue (across from Brookside Cemetery), Winnipeg at 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Ray's memory to Angels Haven Pet Rescue at angelshaven.ca/donations.html. • We hired Ray a couple of years ago to foam spray our basement. He is one of the nicest people we have ever dealt with. We learned about his death when inquiring about Ray doing our basement bathroom and were sadly shocked. He truly was a gift to have in one's home. Full of love and light. - Posted by: Cy-Thea Sand (Client) on: Mar 10, 2015

  • I was fortunate to have met Ray over the past several years. On casual conversations with Ray over a relaxing beer, I discovered not only a new friend, but a Brother! We shared many stories of our Masonic journeys and also of the mutual Brothers that we knew! Beyond this though, Ray became a friend, a pleasant acquaintance to spend time with. My wife and I will miss seeing you my friend! Happy to meet, sorry to part.......................... - Posted by: Alvin Allard (Masonic Brother, Friend) on: Sep 01, 2014

  • Ray introduced me to Freemasonry back in the closing days of my time with 2PPCLI. We spent many nights the Fall/Winter 1996 philosophizing, as it were. Ray always had the time for people, and I regret meeting him so late in my time with 2VP; I may have stayed in longer! He started the ball rolling for me as a Mason, even though I was about leave the unit, and Winnipeg. I am half way around the world now, and Ray helped guide me through a major transition and change in my life. A truly great human being is now able to help the universe beyond his earthly constraints. • One Day at a Time..."In grief, one can endure the day, just the day. But when one also tries to bear the grief ahead, one cannot compass it. As for happiness, it can only be the ability to experience the moment. It is not next year that life will be so flawless and if we keep trying to wait for next year's happiness, the river of time will wind past and we shall not have lived at all" ...Happy To Meet, Sorry To Part, Happy To Meet Again. Until then my Brother! - Posted by: Jeff Olafson (Fraternal Brother - Templum Sion Lodge of Freemasons GRM #186) on: Aug 30, 2014
