Lost touch with Ray several years ago, probably when cell phones came out. Used to call and touch base once every five years or so until then. Last I knew he lived in Springsteen. Last saw him after he graduated from U of South Carolina when he and his mother visited my parents' home in Charleston [1971?]. Just found this obituary while doing a search to let him know of the passing of his roommate, Thomas B. Armstrong Jr. Tom passed away yesterday while he and his wife were on a cruise. Ray still had his '55 Chevy, by the way, at Carolina [the REAL Carolina]. With no chrome or insignia to identify it [and with Lincoln taillights added in shop], he once got a parking ticket at USC when someone pushed his car out of an appropriate spot into an illegal one. The campus officer, in the space for make and model, put "?". Sorry to hear of Ray's passing. Condolences to family and friends. I attended Tec-Voc High School with Ray and everyone remembered Ray & his '55 Chevy, he had the HOT CAR. We always liked Ray and the last time we were together was a weekend at TY's cottage on Lee River, and that was years ago. We had a mutual interest in hot rods and all things automotive.
