GEORGE GERMAIN BRUNEAU February 25, 1934 - August 29, 2014 The Bruneau family sorrowfully announces the passing of our beloved dad, grandpa, great-grandpa, brother, uncle and cousin. George was predeceased by his wife Evelyn, father Joseph, mother Bernadette, brothers Maurice, Marcel, Albert, and sisters Stevrola and Marguerite. He is survived by his daughter Susan, sons Ron and Ken, grandson Chris (Lindsey), granddaughter Cathy (Matt), great-grandsons Liam and Nolan; his sisters Evelyn, Mona, Louise, and brothers Rene, Joe and Elvis. George was born and raised in St. Malo/St. Pierre and attended LaRochelle School. Although he loved the farm life, he moved to the city where he met and married Evelyn in 1957. They made Winnipeg their home to raise their three children. George loved to drive no matter the weather, making his living delivering supplies for City Dray, country delivery of the Winnipeg Free Press, and mail / parcel delivery for Canada Post until his retirement. During those years he won many truck rodeo skills competitions with his postal truck. George also loved 10 pin bowling and won several trophies and championship tournaments. George worked for Pestrak Security alongside most of his younger brothers at the Winnipeg Arena and Stadium. He was a big fan of the Bombers, Jets, Goldeyes, and WWE Wrestling, but more important to him were Chris' soccer and hockey games. A few years ago George travelled to Nova Scotia where he met his special lady friend Joyce and lived a decade of new life experiences in his one year there. He will always be remembered for his stylish attire, but mostly for his great big loving heart and helpfulness to all he knew. A LIFE WELL LIVED BY A MAN GREATLY LOVED. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2014 at 1:00 p.m., at St. Alphonsus Church, 341 Munroe Ave. Reception to follow in church hall. Private burial will take place at a later date. • Our sincere condolences suns and family. I am sorry I missed the funeral. I was away in Calgary with family in August after the death of our 25 year old son Brandon. Your father was such a great friend to my parents, Adam and Carolyn Popp. I remember my mother telling me how your father protected her one day from terrible situation, when she was stranded with her truck while she was delivering the Winnipeg Tribune out west. She never forgot that. He was a wonderful man with a gentle caring heart. One of a kind. He was always dressed neat and to the tee that man. I will miss running into him in the grocery store. Know that he is an angel up with The Lord watching over all off us. He truly is! Caren (Popp) Sych and Brian Sych - Posted by: Caren and Brian Sych (Friends) on: Oct 05, 2014

  • SUSAN Ron & Ken I am so sorry for the loss of your dad. He was such a great man. I first met him when I was 17 years old & he & his brother Marcel use to pick me up at nite school. I really appreciated that. Then I married Marcel & George became my brother-in law. I have so many memories of him with his wife Evelyn that I will never forget. They were a wonderful couple.
