Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBARBARA EVANS (nee MARSHALL) 1926 - 2014 It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother at the Victoria Hospital on September 1, 2014. Barbara leaves behind her daughters, Betty (Keith), Lesley (Ian), Lynne (Deb), Kim (Ron), Tina (Larry) and Lori (Jim), and all their families. She also leaves behind sisters, Elsie and Phyllis; and her brother Norm. Barbara was predeceased by her parents, Millie and Phillip Marshall; husband, Maurice; sister, Joan; and granddaughter, Andrea. Mum was born January 29, 1926 in Gainsborough, Lincolnshire, England and emigrated to Canada with Dad in 1956. She served during the war in the Auxiliary Territorial Service in Great Britain from 1944-1946. She not only loved and cared for her own daughters, but also fostered many young girls and one foster son, Chris. Until the end of July, Mum spent the last thirty years in a Veteran's apartment building in Winnipeg, making many friends over the years. A gathering in Barbara's memory will be held on Tuesday, September 9, 2014 from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. at 819 Grant Avenue. Thank you to the staff on the fifth floor that cared for her during her last month with us. Please make donations in her name to your favorite charity.
