DON GRAHAM 1921 - 2014 On September 6, 2014, with his daughters and son-in-law by his bedside, a heart of gold stopped beating. It is with deep sorrow the family announces the passing of Donald Graham. Left to cherish his memory is his wife Betty, daughters Sandra (Bill) and Linda (Mel), grandchildren Ryan, Jen (Kyle) and Kevin (Carina), great-granddaughter Emma, stepdaughter Helen (Garry), stepson Glen (Anne), step-grandchildren Julie, Rory, Gallagher, Sasha and Madeleine (Daniel), step-great-granddaughter Lauren, and sister-in-law Jo Graham of Calgary. Don was predeceased by his first wife Muriel in 1981, and his brothers Bill and Dave. On February 13, 1921, Don was born in Winnipeg and moved to St. Vital in 1960. Don was a long time employee of Air Canada. He was an avid golfer and a member of St. Boniface Golf Club for many years. As baseball was his passion, he was a season ticket holder with the Winnipeg Goldeyes and looked forward to every game as he was their #1 fan. Don also had a love for the performing arts and enjoyed attending many productions. Don served in the Second World War as a Sergeant in the Royal Canadian Air Force and proudly served as a radar mechanic. As his health began to present various challenges in his later years, Dad rose to meet them head on with a great resolve and dignified approach. The family would like to thank the staff at Riverview on 3E for their kindness and compassion, as well as homecare workers Matt, Ron, Jennifer, and Sharon who helped Dad while at home. Special thanks to nurse Manevan, Dr. Wong, and Dr. St. Godard as well as Dr. Salem for his many years of care. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 11, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba or the Winnipeg Humane Society. We will all be missing him dearly, and he will forever be in our hearts. Glen Eden Funeral Home & Cemetery 204-338-7111

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • We will miss Don at our baseball games. He taught us so much about baseball and the love of baseball. We will remember him with love and respect, especially when we attend our Goldeyes games. - Posted by: Edwin and Pat Nicholls (friends) on: Sep 22, 2014

  • It was a pleasure to have known Don. His enthusiasm for life and his many interests kept him a very interesting man whose stories we loved to hear. While we will miss Don and his stories he has inspired us with his love for life and how he lived it. We will take that into our senior years as a model of how to age but not grow old. Our condolences to those who loved him and have been left behind. Celebrate a life well lived. - Posted by: Janice and John Thompson (Emma's other grandparents) on: Sep 11, 2014

  • So very sorry to hear of Dons passing. It was always so good to see him at the ballpark even when it was so hard on him this year he did his best to be at least a couple of games. We have to take comfort in believing he is in a better place and that his suffering is over. I hope Betty, that you will continue to come to the ballpark where you have many friends who will be looking for you in the Spring. Remember as I have said before you won't be alone.
