Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLORNE CHARLES ANDREW 1933 - 2014 Unexpectedly but peacefully, on Wednesday, September 3, 2014, Lorne passed away with family by his side at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital at the age of 81 years. Lorne will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of 55 years, Marlene; son Brian (Susan), son Gordon and daughter Susan Waytiuk (Brian); grandchildren Nicholas, Kelly and Alexis; sister Carol of Victoria, BC, and numerous relatives and friends. Born in Winnipeg to Archibald and Marion Andrew, Lorne grew up in St. James. He earned his papers as a journeyman carpenter and in 1959 became associated with the Seven Oaks School Division. From 1979 until his retirement in 1995 he owned and operated Andrew's Construction, he took great pride in mentoring many young people into the trade of carpentry. Lorne enjoyed many years of traveling with Marlene to Florida and Hawaii during the winter months. His greatest enjoyment was spending his summers with family and friends, first at their cottage at Laclu, and then at Rioux Bay, Lake of Woods, ON. He and Marlene spent every summer there from May until September; he never wanted to leave. The family would like to thank our wonderful neighbors at Rioux Bay for being there, and the compassionate, caring staff at the LOWDH. Cremation has taken place. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 13, 2014 at Kildonan United Church, 187 Kilbride Avenue, Winnipeg, with Reverend Mark Satterly officiating. Lorne was very helpful to many people in Summerland Apt. complex. He was very dedicated to setting up the room for our evening Bible Study. He found joy in sharing a joke in our Senior's coffee room. He will be remembered by many friends. Lorne will be greatly missed by his wife, Marlene, children and grandchildren. - Posted by: Marlene Osborn (Friend and neighbor in Summerland Apts) on: Sep 10, 2014

Dear Brian, Susan, Nicholas, and Family - We want to express our deepest condolences at the passing of Mr. Andrew. As you know, we only had a couple of chances to meet Mr. Andrew over the years that we have known your family, but both were memorable and heart-warming. The first time we met Mr. Andrew, he was at your house on McNaughton Ave. and he showed Nick, Sam, and Bella how to make a bat box. We found him to be an extremely knowledgeable carpenter and naturalist. The second time we met him, was when you had us out for a visit at his cottage in Lake of the Woods. He and Marlene were very gracious hosts and made all of us feel very welcome in their cottage. We are saddened by your loss and wish all of the family peace in this difficult time. Our thoughts are with all of you. Sincerely, Cheryl, Trevor, Sam, and Bella - Posted by: Cheryl Jerome (Friend of Brian and Susan) on: Sep 10, 2014
