FREDERICK GARFIELD CRESSOCK It is with much sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Fred after a brief illness on September 8, 2014 at St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 85. He will be sadly missed by his daughter Liane King and son-in-law Bruce, grandchildren Josh King (Malinda), Talia Martens (Ryan), and Nathan King, as well as four great-grandchildren, Liam, Jack, Emily and Aida. He is also survived by his brother Frank and nephew Bryan Cressock, both of Merritt, BC. Dad loved all of us very much and loved to spend time with his family. Fred was predeceased by his second wife Judy, and his parents Frederick and Stella Cressock (nee Crowder). Fred was born in Dauphin, Manitoba but the family moved to Winnipeg when he was a young boy. He attended school in St. Vital including high school at Glen Lawn Collegiate. He loved to run in Track and Field events and he played hockey with the Winnipeg Blackhawks. Dad had a long and fulfilling career as a professional accountant, spending the last several of his working years at Wescott Fashions where he also made many lasting friendships. During his retirement years, he enjoyed travelling to many places including Cuba, Arizona, Spain, Australia, and New Zealand. Right up until his passing he was a member of Rossmere Golf and Country Club where he also had a large circle of friends and acquaintances. Although we were not ready to let him go, we are grateful for the many years we had with him and for many wonderful memories. Our family wishes to thank special friends Rob Oliphant and Lou Joyal who spent many hours with Fred in the hospital this past month. We would also like to thank Fred's special friend, Brian Corbett, for his friendship and care for Dad. Many others visited as well and our family thanks you all. We also want to thank the caring and compassionate staff at both Concordia and St. Boniface Hospitals. There are too many of you to mention by name. Dad loved animals, especially all the family cats, so donations in his memory to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB R3T 0R3 would be greatly appreciated, or to another charity of your choice if you wish. Flowers gratefully declined. A memorial service will be held on Monday, September 15, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Klassen Funeral Home. A reception will follow immediately after the service. Cremation has taken place and a private family interment will take place at a later date. • Liane, brother Frank and families,I am very sorry for your loss of my friend Fred. Fred, Frank and I go back as caddies at the Niakwa Country Club era 1942 -43 and since been friends. I have fond memories of so many events. Fred, Frank and I played our first paid green fee golf game in 1943 at Windsor Park Golf Course in 1943. Many other good times followed, following Fred's hockey, meeting evenings near the St.Vital Hotel, our poker games, Christmas Eve visits, parties etc. We have always been in touch with each other even though for many years many miles apart. Fred has always kept me up to date on the St.Vital gang. As you and your family will miss him I will as well. My sincere condolences.
