Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWAINWRIGHT KENNETH WILLIAM SINCLAIR September 14, 1942 - September 5, 2014 Wain passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, following cardiac arrest and a stay in St. Boniface Intensive Care Unit. Born in Winnipeg, Wain grew up in the communities of Morse Place and North Kildonan, graduating from River East Collegiate. He served with the Winnipeg Police Service for 25 years, retiring in 1993 with plenty of time left to smell the roses'. Wain and his wife, Lynne, subsequently spent three years in Comox, B.C., experiencing a few Wet Coast' winters, laying a few ghosts to rest, and then returning home to the hardy Prairie lifestyle. They found that home is where the heart is'. Wain developed an early love of fishing and hunting, guided by his grandfather and uncles Fred and George. His grandfather taught him how to handle a boat and they caught many a fish on the Winnipeg River. They also hunted upland game near the family cottage. Later, with his buddies, he hunted ducks, geese, deer and moose. In later years Wain recounted stories of his work on the job', speaking fondly of his many partners and colleagues and their time together, both on and off the job. Several became his hunting and fishing buddies for many years. He felt fortunate to have been able to help many folks in his work and that he saved a few lives during his years on street patrol. Wain was predeceased by his parents, Dr. John Sinclair and Delia (King) Sinclair. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by wife Lynne; sisters Judith and Heather (Bob); niece Carmen (Joel) and their children Bella, Nathan, and Preston; nephew Scott; and nephew Christopher (Sher) and their children Irelynn and Brock. He will also be missed by his special buddies Dan and Nick, along with his morning coffee buddies and his billiards buddies at the corner. Wain asked to be remembered as you knew him in life, and requested that no formal service be held. He wished to return to one of his favourite fishing haunts along the Winnipeg River. You'll think of him as a wedge of geese flies over, honking, seen or unseen. Or if you catch your limit of fish, or when you play a few hands of cribbage, or enjoy a frosty beer on a hot summer's day. Wain's family wish to thank the first responders who attended at his home, the staff at Ste. Anne's Hospital, and above all the staff at St. Boniface I.C.U. for their compassionate and professional care of both Wain and his family. Special thanks to Chun Man, Norvie, Jan, Arlene, Michelle, Kim, Marcel, Dr. Raj, Dr. Sobia, and Dr. Singall. Flowers gratefully declined by the family; donations in Wain's memory may be made to Siloam Mission, 300 Princess Street, Winnipeg, MB, R3B 9Z9, Salvation Army, 200-290 Vaughan Street, Winnipeg, MB, R3B 2N8 or a charity of your choice.
