Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGRACE DARLING SMITH It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness that we announce the passing of Grace Smith at the Grace Hospital on September 12, 2014. Grace was predeceased by her husband Calvin, son Calvin Jr., sister Anne, and her brother Henry. Grace was born on September 15, 1922 in Winnipeg to Ellen and Henry Smith. Grace grew up in Pointe Du Bois, later moving to Winnipeg. Grace was employed throughout her life in a variety of jobs, retiring from Misericordia Hospital in 1988. Grace was married to Calvin in 1955 and they had three children. Calvin had a career in the military, so their family moved to many different locations both in and out of Canada. Grace took great pleasure in her family, enjoying her role as a mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great- great grandmother and aunt. Grace was also an excellent cook happy to please everyone. Grace always impressed all who met her with her kind and gentle way, being unaware of how many lives she touched. She was truly a great lady. Grace will be greatly missed and always cherished by her daughter Catherine (Kirk), son Roy (Louise), numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, nieces, nephews and special friends Chase and Topper. When the time is right, we know Grace will be among those who will be waiting for us in eternity. Funeral service will be held at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Avenue (across from Brookside Cemetery), Monday, September 22 at 12:30 P.M. GRACE DARLING SMITH On Friday, September 12, 2014 at the Grace Hospital, Grace Darling Smith, widow of the late Calvin Brant Smith Sr., passed away at the age of 91 years. Memorial service will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday, September 22 at the Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Ave. (across from Brookside Cemetery). Longer obituary will follow in Saturday's paper. On Sept. 15, 1922 Grace Darling Smith entered this world not knowing how many lives she would touch on her journey through it. The number staggers. On Sept 12, 2014 Grace Darling Smith, a Truly Grand Lady stepped from this world into eternity. She left 5 generations of family behind to mourn her departure. Her daughter Cathy (Kirk) son Roy (Louise). So many in the almost 92 years of her life that had gone before were waiting her arrival including her parents, husband, son, sister, brother, and countless friends to welcome her into paradise.
