ANETA SWITZER June 26, 1927 - September 11, 2014 It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of Aneta Switzer (nee Newman). Aneta was born on June 26, 1927 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and passed away surrounded by her children in Calgary, Alberta on September 11, 2014. Although she lived 87 years, Mom was always young at heart, and could always be found with her hair perfectly done and a generous application of bright red lipstick. She lives behind to mourn six children, Darlene (Bill), Lorne (Nadine), Susan, Ron (Helmi), John (Christine), Mark (Martin), and many other family and friends including her nephew Nelson (Debbie), and nieces Shelley, and Jackie (Glen). She was blessed with thirteen grandchildren, Robert, Sarah (James), Sarede, Eliyahu (Rachel), Lucy, Gabrielle, Raphael, Zachary, Joshua (Jessica), Rachel (Brad), Noah, Valentina, and Juliana; and seven great-grandchildren, Chani, Yehuda, Gershon, Zoey, Max, Eli and Sydney. She was woman of valor who will be remembered for her beauty and elegance, her wit, her kindness, her strong heart, her cooking and knishes, her crafts, and her generous spirit. She was strong in her ways but loving to all. A most tolerant woman, with a strong sense of family, her instinct for fun was second to none. Aneta was a proud lifetime member of Calgary Hadassah-Wizo, Shaarey Tzedec and Beth Tzedec Sisterhoods and a strong supporter of Jewish education and Israel. She was predeceased by her parents Nelson and Lucy Newman, and her sister Tibele. Her family wishes to thank Dr. D Hogan and Dr. R Herget for their attentive and compassionate care; and Aneta's devoted caregivers, Minda, Cora, Diane, Linda Lou, and the many part timers who helped to make her life special, especially in these last days. Funeral services will be held at Beth Tzedec Synagogue, (1325 Glenmore Trail S.W., Calgary, AB) on Sunday, September 14, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. Interment to follow at Erlton Street Cemetery, Erlton Street and 30th Avenue SW. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire donations in Aneta's honour may be made directly to the Calgary Jewish Academy (403-253-3992), or JPPS-Bialik School (6502 Kildare Rd, Cote Saint-Luc PQ, H4W3B8). Arrangements in care of the CHEVRA KADISHA OF CALGARY, Telephone: 403-244-4717.
