AURORA SILLANA VELASCO It is with great sadness the Velasco family announces the passing of Aurora Sillana Velasco on September 11, 2014 at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg, MB. Aurora was born on February 29, 1924 in Iloilo, Philippines. She was predeceased by her loving husband Florencio, sons Eduardo, Ernesto, Amor and Ariel, and grandson Anthony. She is survived by her children Marietta, Lydia, Danilo and Chato, Norma, Geraldo and Vergie, and Raquel and Leoben and their families, and daughters-in-law Lourdes (Eduardo), Vangie (Ernesto) and Amelia (Amor) and their families. Aurora will be missed by her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, friends and relatives in the Philippines and in Canada. Aurora will always be remembered for her strength, independence and smiling approach to any circumstance. The family will always be grateful that their mother and Lola lived a long, happy life and passed peacefully with family by her side. Thank you to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Central Dialysis, who cared greatly for the "cute little nanay", as well as the homecare staff that cared for her while she was here. Lamay (wake) will commence on Friday, September 19, 2014 and Saturday, September 20, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn, 4000 Portage Avenue. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, September 22, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Edwards Church, 818 Arlington Street, with Father Rainerio Sarce presiding.
