Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHORST PETER GOEKE August 29, 1934 - September 14, 2014 After a long illness, Horst Peter Goeke passed away, leaving his wife Joyce (Halladay); daughter Patricia Baker (Chandran), son Fredrick (Layna Penner); and grandchildren Aidan, Jeremy, and Amelia Baker; and Kirsten, Signe, and Lara Penner-Goeke. Peter was predeceased by his parents, Friedrich and Marie; and brothers, Heinz, Claus and Gunter. Peter was born in Essen, Germany, where he studied woodworking and excelled in his trade. He immigrated to Canada in 1955, working first in Saskatchewan and then moving to Manitoba. He became a proud Canadian citizen in 1967. Peter and Joyce married in 1958 in Winnipeg. They moved to Teulon, where they settled to raise their family. Peter was a skilled carpenter and ran his own contracting business. As well, he and Joyce established a successful cattle farm. Peter had many hobbies including gardening, reading and fishing. He obtained a pilot's license and loved flying his Piper PA-12 airplane. Peter enjoyed travelling and toured Europe by motorcycle prior to moving to Canada. In later years, he and Joyce visited many regions including Europe, China, the Caribbean, and Brazil. Peter adored his grandchildren and they loved spending time with their Opa. We would like to thank the many friends and caregivers who supported Peter during his illness. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held for Peter at a later date. If friends so desire, donations can be made in memory of Peter to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 120 Donald St. Winnipeg, MB. My heart goes out to you all. It is never easy to loose your Dad. I remember family visits, of our parents visiting upstairs while we played outside or downstairs. My sympathy to the family. R.I.P. Peter. - Posted by: Patti Dola (family friend) on: Oct 10, 2014

My dad bought 5 acres from Peter in 1969 and shared Peters love of flying. Growing up next door to the Goekes me and my brother Moe shared many memories with Peters son Fred. - Posted by: rene bouvier (friends and neighbors) on: Sep 21, 2014
