MIKE HALIPCHUK October 3, 1927 September 17, 2014 It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Father, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather at the age of 86. Mike was born in Cook's Creek, MB on October 3, 1927 to William and Antonia. He left the farm at a very young age to begin a long working career. It was at this time that he met a young waitress by the name of Margaret Hunt whom later became his wife. Mike and Margaret travelled throughout Southern Manitoba settling for a time in Carmen where their children Mary Ellen, Shauna and Michael were born. Eventually they made their home in Selkirk where they welcomed their sons James and Wayne. Retirement from MTS after 38 years came early for Mike due to his illness but it didn't slow him down. He was able to spend more time with Margaret, golfing, travelling, trips to the casino and family gatherings. Mike was predeceased by his wife, of 55 years, Margaret (2008), son Michael (2011), son In law Larry (2012), and his wonderful little dog Tippy (2012). He was also predeceased by his parents, sister Stella and brother Walter. He is survived and will be missed by his children Mary Ellen (Roly), Shauna, James (Barbara) and Wayne (Susan), 11 Grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren, as well as sisters, sisters in law, brothers in law, nieces and nephews. Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg. The family would like to thank the Selkirk and District Hospital and Dad's home care workers for all of the care and support he received. Dad liked flowers but he loved animals more. He would be honored if donations could be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society. For those who wish to sign the online Guest Book please visit our website. www.chapellawn.ca 885-9715
