ANNA BAUMLER It is with deep sadness that our family announces the passing of Anna Baumler, our dear mother on Friday, September 19, 2014 at the age of 91years. She will be lovingly remembered by her sons: David (Darlia) and Norman (Kathy), grandson Peter (Suzanne) and granddaughter Dallas. Anna was predeceased by her husband Ernest, her parents Peter and Helen Maly and brother Michael. Mom emigrated from Yugoslavia along with her family arriving at Winnipeg in 1948. She married Ernest Baumler in 1950, living in central Winnipeg and Fort Rouge before buying their new house in St. Vital in 1968. Dad passed away in 1994 and Mom maintained her home until her stroke in 2008. Mom enjoyed the outdoors especially time spent at Lester Beach, going for walks or watching the sunset. She was an avid gardener, specializing in weed eradication and spider web removal at the cottage. She loved all animals especially the family dogs: Finnegan and McDuff. A special thank you to all staff of Maples Personal Care Home, especially Pine 1 West for their care, compassion and dedication shown to Mom over the years. A memorial service will be held at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., on Thursday, September 25, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Mom may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Winnipeg Humane Society or a charity of choice. • Dear Norm and Dave and family, Please accept my heartfelt condolences on the passing of your dear mother. Several years ago, I was going through my past phone numbers and came across your mom's and gave her a call. We had a pleasant talk about how we were related through my Grandma Martin (nee Maly). May God's loving grace bring all of you comfort at this very trying time. - Posted by: Carol Miller (Relative) on: Sep 22, 2014

  • I have fond memories of spending time in Ernest & Anna's back yard & house on Beresford & the new house in St Vital with their son David. They often drove us for miles so David & I could take his new canoe out to some creek or ditch we wanted to explore. The patience of parents. It's funny how those moments of great parenting stay with you. I will miss them both. My condolences to David & Norman & Family - Posted by: Helmut Baldes (Family Friend) on: Sep 22, 2014

  • Mrs B. as we so fondly called her was a sweet, gentle woman who would always greet you with a smile. I remember every time I saw her (from the time I was a young girl to a middle aged woman) she would always ask me about my life and listen with great interest. She was always made me feel like I was part of her family and I still remember the good times we had at her house in St Vital and family gatherings at Christmas. Norman and David, please know we are thinking of you and send our condolences. Carla and Ray - Posted by: Carla Hocken (Norman's sister-in-law) on: Sep 22, 2014

  • Mrs. Baumler truly was a lovely lady. We enjoyed her company very much when Kathy and Norman had family gatherings. Also I saw Mrs. Baumler fairly often at her home in the Maples Personal Care Centre. She will be missed, but we are very certain she is now at peace with her beloved Ernest. - Posted by: Ken & Jan Hocken (cousin of Kathy's) on: Sep 22, 2014
