EDITH ELLA DESPINS Peacefully at the St. Boniface Hospital on Monday, September 22, 2014, Edith passed away at the age of 88. She was predeceased by husbands Don May (1955), Roman Sosinkalo (1975), Bernard Dusty' Despins (2000); also by parents Margaret Ella' and Ernest Henry Harry' Underhill; and by brother Ernest Henry Harry' and sister-in-law Esme. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Sue (Dan) Newell, and grandson Michael; and her son Ron Sosinkalo and grandchildren Crystal (Felix) Berthelette, Alisha, Brayden and Danika Sosinkalo; as well as her great-granddaughter Icelyn Berthelette. Also by children Fred, Robbie Harris, Geordie (Wendy), Les (Donna), Arlene (Kaz) Sawicz, Debbie (Dave) Payment, Maureen (Wayne) Mosionier, and Patti (Roger) Yanicki and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Also left to mourn are numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Edith was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba and lived here all her life, mostly in Windsor Park. She worked as a secretary in the Math and Astronomy Department at the University of Manitoba until she retired in 1992. After retirement, she spent many hours on crafts, and also spent countless hours volunteering at CancerCare Manitoba. CancerCare was dear to her heart, and she to theirs as she had been recognized with several volunteer awards. She was a lifetime member of the Eastern Star and served several roles within the organization over the course of her life. Edith loved to travel, and had been to many countries travelling often with her late best friend Evelyn Loewen. From China to Africa to Panama, she always returned home with interesting stories of her adventures and unique gifts for her family! She was a strong woman with a great sense of humour, and she especially enjoyed eating chocolates with her grandchildren. Funeral Service will be held on Monday, September 29, 2014 at Green Acres Funeral Home and Cemetery, #1 Hwy. East at Navin Road. Service at 10:00 a.m. with reception to follow. The family wishes to thank the staff at St. Boniface Hospital Palliative Care for their assistance and care.
