Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryTHOMAS HARVEY ADAIR Tom, at the age of 87 years, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2014 after battling pancreatic cancer. Left to cherish his memory are his daughter Sandra and son-in-law Chuck Murray. He was predeceased by his loving wife Sophie (nee Kalechyn), of 58 years in June, 2014. Tom is also survived by brothers John (Matilda) and Carter, sisters Eurie and Iris, sisters-in-law Fern and Joyce, extended family: sisters-in-law Olga Kalechyn and Mabel Krykewich, brothers-in-law Mike and Tony, and sister-in-Law Mae, as well as many nieces and nephews. Tom was predeceased by his parents Leslie and Ethel (nee Lounsbury) Adair, brothers Bill, Jim, Laurie, and Ernie, and sister Lorna. Tom was born in Fairfax, Manitoba in 1927. His father being a grain buyer, the family moved around, and resided in Fairfax, Brandon, Rathwell and Middlechurch, Manitoba. As a young boy, Tom had a fascination for the automobile and he quickly picked up the trade as a mechanic. While working for CCIL in Birtle he met his wife Sophie. They married in 1956 and since that time resided in Winnipeg. Tom worked for 34 years at CFB Winnipeg at P6 and C1 retiring in 1989. He was a member of the Seven Oaks Game and Fish and West Kildonan Legion. Tom enjoyed building and fixing things and was quite the handyman, having put on an addition to their home completing the carpentry, plumbing and electrical. He was always available to lend a helping hand. Tom enjoyed taking trips back to Treherne and venturing through the back roads reminiscing on days gone by. Many thanks to the staff 5th floor Unit 4 of Seven Oaks Hospital. Cremation has taken place and a private family graveside service will be held at Woodlands Cemetery near Treherne, Manitoba. Donations may be made in Tom's name to the Never Alone Foundation, Box 51064 RPO Tyndall Park, Winnipeg, MB R2X 3C6, or any charity of one's choice.
