DOUG NISBET Surrounded by family, Doug passed away peacefully on September 24, 2014, at the Poseidon Care Centre. Doug was born in Winnipeg on July 15, 1922. He was predeceased by his wife Davina Randall Nisbet in 2003 and his stepson Jack Randall in 1980. He is survived by his brother Don Nisbet; stepdaughter Carol Randall (Zbigniew); his daughter-in-law Janis Randall Simpson (Bruce); grandchildren Marisa Harwood-Jones (Troy), Geoff Randall (Jane), Anna Johnson (Kirk), Meagan Randall Gryz (Bryce), Kathryn Feriolo (Dan); and great-grandchildren Markus, Jesse, Nicholas, Charlie, Ava, Beck, Isaak, Sophia, Oliver, Gabriel, Alexander, and Ethan. Raised in St. James, where he happily resided most of his life, Doug was a veteran of the Second World War. After serving, he became a draughtsman and worked in Winnipeg lumberyards throughout his adult life. He took great pride in developing building plans for his customers. Doug and Davina were devoted to each other, sharing their interests in family, church, and their cottage. They found much happiness in the United Church, particularly as pastoral care workers. Nearly every day they visited others, less fortunate than themselves, giving cheer and friendship. Doug was also passionate about his research work for the Western Canada Aviation Museum. After Davina's death, Doug moved into Metropolitan Kiwanis where he enjoyed the warm and caring environment. Doug's family extends their grateful appreciation to the staff at Kiwanis. The family would also like to thank the staff at Poseidon for their wonderful care, particularly Nurse Marie. A family service will take place with interment beside his wife at Brookside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3E 0V9. NEIL BARDAL FUNERAL CENTRE 204-949-2200 neilbardalinc.com

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • I will always remember Doug for his kindness. A true gentle soul. Unfortunately I have not seen Doug for many years, but often thought of his and Vena's kindness. Sending his family my deepest sympathy. Gayle & Rick Hassett (Agar) - Posted by: Gayle Hassett (Friend of Vena) on: Sep 29, 2014

  • So sorry for your loss. I worked at Kiwanis and knew Doug very well. Over the years he was a gentle and helpful man to all who needed a little help. He took care of a couple of people who he sat with for his meals and did this for many years. He was such a kind soul and now he is needed in heaven to again meet the ones he helped and continue his unselfish helpful ways. You will be missed Doug and never forgotten - Posted by: kathy (hsw for homecare) on: Sep 28, 2014
