BARBARA LORD 1924 - 2014 Passed away peacefully on September 23 at Heritage Lodge at the age of 90. Barbara is predeceased by her beloved husband Jack in 1988. Barbara is survived by her daughter Debbie, son Terry (wife Catherine), grandchildren Tyler, Heather Gillian and her sister Joan. Barbara was born in Fort William, Ontario. She later served in the Canadian Navy during the Second World War. She later took up a career as a dental assistant. She loved travelling, gardening (which was a real art for her), golfing and being active with her friends and family. She will be sadly missed by her loved ones. The family thanks everyone from the staff at The Westhaven and especially the staff at Heritage Lodge for the care and understanding they provided for Barbara. Barbara will re-join her husband Jack at Chapel Lawn on her birthday April 8, 2015 when the interment will take place. www.chapellawn.ca 885-9715

Barbara and Jack Lord lived across the street from me since I was a small baby. The Lords were sweet, and were always willing to spend time with me, let me visit with their poodle, Peppie and swim in their swimming pool. When I became a teenager, my parents could always rely on Barb to keep a vigilant eye on our house when my parents would go away and leave me at home. Her comments about how loud the music was across the street and how the cars were coming and going always kind of rubbed me the wrong way; now as an adult I know that she was only watching out of concern. I remember playing cards with them at our cottage, they always brought a jar of change - wow real money?
