MARGARET LOUGH Family and friends are invited to a celebration of the life of Margaret Lough. Margaret passed away peacefully on September 10, 2014 at the age of 99 years, eight months. Mom was predeceased by her husband Jim in 1983, her grandson Todd in 2004, her parents William and Florence Wall, and siblings, Norman, Horace, Jack and Winnie. Mom will be greatly missed by her loving family: daughter Judy (Robert), son Barrie (Linda), grandchildren, Chad (Nancy), Cara, Brett (Wendy), Laura (Ian), Shari, Tara (Larry), Laura and Dawn, 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Also left to grieve is former daughter-in-law and friend Andrienne. Mom combined an affable and outgoing nature with an elegant persona. She made lifelong friends easily and enjoyed her vocation dealing with the public, spending 35 years at Eaton's in the Draperies. Mom loved her family times at Grand Beach, where we had a cottage since 1944. She was a charter member of the "Hubba Girls" with her long-time friends Eileen, Evelyn, Marg, Grace and Ella, during the war when Dad was away. Prior to Dad's retirement they began a tradition of travelling to Hawaii every year until Dad's passing in 1983. The family knew this was just an excuse to import boxes of See's chocolate, bringing home six boxes each. Neither Judy nor Barrie can recall sharing their stash. A special thank you to the caring staff at Maples Personal Care Home. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the charity of your choice. The celebration will be held on Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Avenue (across from Brookside Cemetery). Dear Judy & Barrie, sorry to hear of your Mom's passing, she lived to wonderful age of 99. She was always so pleasant, bright, positive, a breath of fresh air to visit. She seldom complained. I admired her for alaways wearing her make-up, wanting to look her best. May she rest in peace. I know you will always have the many good memories of her to help during this difficult time. Margaret and my mom Eileen were best friends and therefore “Auntie Margaret” was very much a part of my life from as far back as I can remember. When I was born I happened to arrive on January 14th which was Margaret’s birthday. So Auntie Margaret became my Godmother and my name of course became Linda Margaret. I have very fond memories of 850 McDermott and 938 Lipton and Banchory Lodge and Anchor Inn and the well worn paths between. Lots of Fun. She will be well remembered. And we live on as long as we are remembered. RIP Auntie Marg. - Posted by: Linda Thacker (nee Mailey) (God Daughter) on: Sep 28, 2014

Judy & Barrie: although we have really never met, I wanted to extend my condolences on the loss of your Mom... your dear, dear Mom. I so enjoyed her company when she would be visiting Mom & Dad (George and Dorothy Parkinson). Her sense of humor was admired. After Mom died we kept in touch for a wee while, but as life has it, we drifted apart. She was a remarkable woman, but I know her love will live on in your hearts.
