KATHLEEN WINNIFRED GRAHAM January 10, 1915 September 28, 2014 The family of Kathleen (Kay) W. Graham regrets to announce that our mom, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Sunday, September 28, 2014 at the Victoria General Hospital, as a result of a stroke. We had all been hoping she would be able to celebrate her 100th birthday, but even though she was a "tough old bird", that was not to be. She was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Percy B. Graham, in 1996 and infant daughter, Vivian Barbara, in 1944. She is survived by son Alan (Judith), daughter Sheila (Bruce) Down, grandchildren Michelle Argle, Alaina Graham and Lisa (Jeremy) Down, great-grandchildren Stuart, Jordan and Sean Argle, as well as many nieces and nephews across Canada and the United States. Mom was born in Regina, SK, the first Canadian born of seven children to Charles and Emily Haigh. She moved to Winnipeg where she met and married Percy on November 9, 1938, living firstly in the Brooklands area, then moving to Fifth Avenue in St. Vital where they lived until moving to Oxford Street in 1968. They established many long-standing friendships over those years. In November of 2006, Mom moved into Dakota House in St. Vital where she made many more new friends. We would like to thank most sincerely all members of the staff and other residents for their care and concern of Mom while living at Dakota House. She really appreciated everything you did for her. Mom was an independent, hard-working and feisty lady, always ready to help out in any way she could. For many years she was a CGIT leader as well as a member of the United Church Women at the then St. Stephen's Broadway United Church, holding various positions including President. She was also involved with the Ladies Auxiliary of Khartum Shriners, volunteering at the then Shriners Hospital on Wellington Crescent and also holding various offices including President. In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place, but there will be no formal service. A graveside burial of the ashes service for family and friends will take place on Saturday, October 4, 2014 at 9:45 a.m. at Brookside Cemetery, 3001 Notre Dame Avenue. A "come and go" celebration of her life will be held at Dakota House, 1145 Dakota Street, on Sunday, October 5, 2014 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Additional parking will be available at the United Church in Meadowood (1111 Dakota Street next door to Dakota House). Flowers gratefully declined. If desired, donations may be made to the Khartum Ladies Auxiliary, Winnipeg, or a charity of your choice. NEIL BARDAL FUNERAL CENTRE 204-949-2200 neilbardalinc.com

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • My daughter and I had the pleasure and honor of meeting and working for Kathleen over the past 5 years. Kathleen was an absolutely wonderful, loving, caring woman! Kathleen had an absolutely wonderful sense of humor! Kathleen would always joke around with us. Kathleen had the most amazing memory of anyone I know, she was right on top of things. She never forgot anything or anyone. We quickly became family!! We will miss her terribly. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family! Kathleen has a beautiful daughter, Sheila whom we consider family as well! Sheila is an amazing daughter and has always been there to take care of her mom! Your mom thought the world of you Sheila!! Many hugs and kisses to you and your family. With all our love always, love forever Jenna and Nancy xoxoxoxo - Posted by: Nancy and Jenna Holden (Family friends) on: Sep 30, 2014
