H. VIOLET JAMIESON (nee HYDE) At 12:45 a.m. on September 26, 2014 the beautiful soul of H. Vi Jamieson left us to continue its journey. Vi died at Vista Park Lodge which has been her home for the past four years. Born October 31, 1914, Vi grew up in Ottawa where she met and married her loving husband Cecil (deceased) and moved with him to Winnipeg in 1943. Left to cherish her memory are her son Lloyd (Dorri) and her daughters Ruth Wingerter and Judy Bastiaanssen (Tony); her grandchildren Marne (Bruce), Paul (Michelle), Allison (Brad), Laura (Drew) and great-grandchildren Sawyer, Iris, Asia, Sarah, Connor, and Aldous. Also mourning Vi will be her sister Marjorie of Aylmer, PQ and brother Lloyd of Ottawa, ON; brother-in-law Stanley (Mavis) of Ottawa as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Mom was an insightful, reflective, spiritual, child of God. In addition to loving and tending her family, Vi served her community throughout her life. She has been a youth worker, senior's advocate, historical researcher, facilitator and a pioneer in public access cable TV. A long-time member of the United Church, Vi has served at the congregational and board levels as well as the conference and National levels through the United Church division of communication. Also a poet and writer, Mom expressed many of her thoughts and spiritual seekings in print for the edification, fun and comfort of herself, her family and friends. Vi was also a fine homemaker. Sewing for her family, baking bread and feeding them well (physically and spiritually), often at the family cottage on Falcon Lake where she and the kids spent many summers. Mom enjoyed music and singing all her life and even in her final years she appreciated any opportunity to have singing part of her world. Many thanks are given to the staff of Vista Park Lodge for their care of our much loved Mom "Miss Hollywood rockstar has left the building!" Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at Fort Garry United Church on Thursday, October 2 at 2:00 p.m. If friends so desire, donations may be made in Mom's memory to Fort Garry United Church, 800 Point Rd. Winnipeg, MB R3T 3L8. "I meant to do my work today but a brown bird sang in the apple tree. And a butterfly flitted across the field and all the leaves were calling me. And the wind went sighing over the land, tossing the grasses to and fro, and a rainbow held out its shining hand, so what could I do but laugh and go." Chapel Lawn www.chapellawn.ca 885-9715
