ARMANCE ANITA PREFONTAINE (nee FAFARD) It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Armance on Sunday, September 28, 2014. Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 72 years Charles, her four daughters, Anita (Albert Ruest), Rosalie (Yves Vézina), Charlaine (Ed Crebbs), and Louise (Ravi Abraham), seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She also leaves to mourn her brother Lucien and his wife Claire Fafard and many sisters and brothers-in-law. Mom has been reunited with her parents Armand and Laurette Fafard and her infant sister Anita Marcelle. Armance was born September 5, 1923, in St. Victor, SK and married Charles on May 12, 1942. While Dad was serving overseas Mom worked as a riveter in the Vancouver shipyards. After the war they settled in Winnipeg where they raised their family until being transferred to Montreal in 1965. Upon Dad's retirement they moved back to Manitoba to spend summers at Rock Lake and winters in Texas where they made many friends. Mom was active in her church and community, was a gifted cook and seamstress and won ribbons for her beautiful quilts. She loved camping, travelling, entertaining friends and shopping, especially in thrift stores. She was also an avid Blue Jays fan. Mom was kind and generous and always put family first. As her grandchildren have said, "Memère, you make us think of love and you transform the simple into something special." We wish to thank the doctors and the amazing staff of the Riverview Health Centre for the care and compassion shown to Armance and her family. If desired, donations can be made in Armance's name to the Parkinson Society Manitoba, 7-414 Westmount Drive, Winnipeg, MB R2J 1P2, or a charity of your choice. Funeral Mass will be held at the St. Boniface Cathedral, 190 avenue de la Cathédrale, on Friday, October 3 at 10:30 a.m. with a eulogy at 10:15 a.m. Interment of her cremated remains will take place at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens at 3:00 p.m. DESJARDINS 233-4949 1-888-233-4949 www.desjardinsfuneralchapel.ca

  • Dear Uncle Charlie and family, Please accept my most sincere condolences for your loss on behalf of all members of my family. I keep fond memories of the days I spent with you and aunt Armance in the summer 1956 or was it 1957 when my brother Ron and I spent the summer at the farm with "Memère". I also clearly remember your presence with Anita at my mom's funeral 18 months ago: an act of kindness that did not go unnoticed. - Posted by: Brian MacKinnon (Nephew) on: Oct 01, 2014
