THOMAS LITTLETON SELBY Tom Selby slipped away peacefully on Friday, September 26, 2014, at the age of 89 years, surrounded by his wife Paulette and his children. His last days were filled with messages of treasured memories, admiration and love from a multitude of friends and family, especially his six children, 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. After spending four years overseas in the Canadian Army during the Second World War, he worked in the garage and gravel businesses for a few years prior to spending most of his working career as a Maintenance Foreman with the province on Manitoba's Department of Highways and Transportation. The family would like to thank the staff at the Convalescent Home of Winnipeg for the remarkable care and attention they provided him during his last days there. We would also like to extend a special thank you to all the staff and residents of the Cathedral Manor where he spent six beautiful years. He was truly a good and kind man, known for his love of family and friends. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of his life will be held at the Cathedral Manor Chapel, 321 avenue de la Cathédrale, Winnipeg, on Saturday, October 4, 2014 at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to the Convalescent Home of Winnipeg, 276 Hugo St. N., Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3M 2N6, or to a charity of your choice. He was an easy person to love, respect and admire! NEIL BARDAL FUNERAL CENTRE 204-949-2200 neilbardalinc.com

  • To the Selby family: I offer my deepest sympathy in the loss of your husband and father. I went to school with Kathleen and remember your Dad as a huge presence and he was always smiling and so kind. I used to enjoy going to your house and it felt like a good place for me. May you find comfort in the good memories you have of your loved one, who was no doubt a great influence on you and your lives. We are remembered not by what we did, but by who we were. God bless you all. Marie-Paule - Posted by: Marie-Paule Chartier (friend) on: Oct 04, 2014

  • Our thoughts and prayers are with Auntie Paulete and family during this very difficult time! Uncle Tommy was a very gentle soul who always had alot of stories to tell us when we went to visit him in La Broquerie and then the last few years at The Cathedral Manor. May he rest in peace. He will be missed by all his family. - Posted by: Ross Cipriano & Family (rose/ niece) on: Oct 04, 2014

  • While I knew Mr Selby for over 25 years, I really got to know him best when he lived in Cathedral Manor. My mother Lucienne also lived in the Manor. Mrs Selby always says we are why they moved there. Mr Selby was incredibly kind, courteous and thoughtful towards my mother, showing the true nature of his character. He was a big rugged man reminding our family a lot of my father. His heart was as big as his personality. Our family truly enjoyed our visits with Dave and Grace's mom and dad. He is missed by all. - Posted by: Gerry Lane (Family friend) on: Oct 03, 2014

  • I only knew Thomas for 4 yrs but will always remember him walking past my table in the dining room and tapping his shirt pocket to let me know he had remembered his pills that day. He will be missed here at The Cathedral Manor. - Posted by: Louise Landry (Friend from the Manor) on: Oct 02, 2014

  • My condolences to the Selby family. Tom was certainly a decent honorable man. He will live in your memory. - Posted by: Victor Dobchuk () on: Oct 01, 2014

  • I simply remember him as the "insurance man", when I was just a little girl and course went to school with some of his children. I also remember the horses in the backyard, a time when we were all afraid of "sleeping sickness". In talking with my mother Jeannette Snyder, she said..he was truly a respected man in the community - Posted by: Our sympathies to the family..Huguette Fouillard (related through marriage) on: Oct 01, 2014
