Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • It saddens me that there is no mention of her life written here. I suppose it's because I lost contact with her and while I was young, defaulting to others for direction so as to follow their lead, it's no excuse to the fact that I've thought of this lovely woman many a time over the years and did nothing about it. So, I write this to say what I wanted to say... Thank you for being a part of my life. We were in each other's lives for too short a time but I do recall it as being sweet (well mostly cause I remember you, having a smirk on your face when a boy called me a boy...I keep my hair long now!! :) My first memories are of you coming to visit us in Transcona. You were introduced as Pearl but quickly became Auntie Pearl and then later, Gramma. Your presence shifted my 'Papa' into my 'Grampa' but that was okay. Life became fun with him again! Trips to the Birds Hill Park, picnics at the beach all great fun but it was the love that you had with my Grampa that was truly special to watch. Stories of your classic hockey rivalry have become legendary...you the Leafs fan and he the Habs sitting on opposite sides of the couch poking fun yet intensely cheering on your team during the games only to be followed with a kiss and a snuggle session after it. Too fun to watch!! ...He passed away too soon didn't he?! And too soon for us to really develop a long lasting relationship... But we made the choices we made and didn't see each other after that. A loss, I believe, we both missed out on given how long of a life you lived! You would have loved my kids and they you, to be sure! I hope your life was a good one filled with the smiles and laughter I so fondly remember. Until next time, Gramma.
