HARRY BENNETT Suddenly at the Victoria Hospital on Wednesday, October 1, 2014 in his 98th year, beloved father of Wendy (Don) passed away. He was predeceased by his loving wife Gizella in 1988 and his daughter Gail 2003. Harry was born in Winnipeg on August 9, 1917. He spent most of his life in Winnipeg, except for part of his childhood when the family moved to Inwood, Manitoba. He enlisted in the Canadian Army in 1940, initially with the Winnipeg Rifles before being transferred to the Essex Scottish. For the duration of the war he served in the United Kingdom, France, Germany and Belgium. Upon being demobilized, he returned to Winnipeg where in 1947 he met and married his wife of 41 years Gizella (Ella). He spent all of his working life employed by Labatt's/Brewers Distributers until his retirement in 1982. Harry loved curling, both as a player and spectator, enjoying all national and international games. He was also a big Bomber and Jets fan, never missing a game if he could help it. Harry will always be remembered as a warm and caring person. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. A memorial service will take place at a later date.
