  • My wife Donna and I extend our sincere condolences to the family of Ann and Walter Zylich. I did not know your mother very well but had met her on a couple of occasions. However, I did know your dad and Gerry. Walter and I met in Aug 1978 at Fly-ways Esso at the Winnipeg International Airport. Where else would your dad be when he dropped your mom off at shopping? I had aircraft for rent and had the pleasure of doing a check ride with your dad on that day in Aug. Your dad was a gentleman, who always had a smile and a story to tell. He often spoke with pride, of Ann and his family. I a chance meeting with one of you when I went to the Pan-Am Clinic to have a hip x-ray. Having met Gerry and you I recall the personalities being so warm and friendly, much like your dad's. In about 2002-2003 I called your dad as I had not spoken with him for sometime. He was very broken hearted that he could not fly anymore because he was unable to manage the rudder pedals with his leg, as I recall. I suggested that others or I would be more than happy to go up with him. He was thankful but replied "It's not the same." I understood and sensed his sadness. In Sept of 2003 I was at home convalescing from a hip replacement when I read of your dad's passing. Your family, through Walter and Ann will always be a happy memory for me. Thank you.
