SHELLEY MAKL (HILL) 1950 - 2014 Surrounded by her loving family Shelley Maureen Makl passed away peacefully at home on October 8, 2014. Shelley was predeceased by her father Gordon Hill, brother Bobby and sister Lynne. She is lovingly remember by her sons Calvin, and Keith (Farrah), daughter Amanda (Steve Hodgson), grandchildren Matthew, Joshua and Jase, her mother Irene, sister Carol, brothers Ken and Tim and her partner David Anton. She will be greatly missed by her devoted caregiver and best friend Teresa Low. Shelley was blessed and loved by many of her extended family and friends. Born and raised in Winnipeg, Shelley was devoted to raising her family and cherished every moment with her children and grandchildren. During her early years she took pride in her work, she loved to read, create pottery, do crafts, spend time at the lake laughing and having fun with family and friends. As the years progressed she faced her journey with MS head on, meeting each challenge with unbelievable courage and strength. She passed on her wisdom, knowledge and experiences of her MS to others through speaking at meetings held at the ILRC and the MS Society. Each person she came across was always met with her shining beauty, charm and a smile. She lived life with an amazing amount of determination always displaying remarkable strength. Mom was forever grateful for all the love and support received from everyone that touched her life and is an inspiration to us all. The family would like to extend their gratitude to all of Shelley's staff past and present for their excellent care given throughout her illness. Also to thank Dr. Gomori, all of Shelley's support network group and to the palliative care team in her final hours. A celebration of Mom's life will be held on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. A private interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the MS Society. With great sadness we say goodbye to our loving mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and best friend. "You will forever be held in our hearts and memories." For those who wish to sign the online Guest Book please visit our website. www.chapellawn.ca 885-9715

  • I remember when Shelley and Dave moved into the home in Charleswood. It was very easy to become a friend of Shelley's. She never complained. I admired her so very much.
