Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGIOVANNA TACCHI It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden, yet peaceful passing of our wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Giovanna Tacchi (nee Santioni) on October 12, 2014 at the age of 82. She is predeceased by her parents Emilia and Giuseppe and stepmother Artemia; brother Ezio; sister Elsa and son Emilio. Left to cherish and carry on her memory are her husband Vincenzo of 64 years; daughters Teresa, Rita (Vince), Suzie (Darren) and son Joe (Donna); daughter-in-law Lorna, grandchildren David (Missy), Louise (Matthew), Anthony, Bianca (Scott), Jordan, Chelsea, Alexi and great-grandchildren Ariston, Madison and Mason. Giovanna was born on November 23, 1931 in Capria, Gualdo Tadino, Perguia, Italy. She immigrated to Canada in 1957 with her son Emilio to reunite with her husband who settled in Winnipeg two years prior. She was a hardworking and dedicated role model for all her children. Always putting her family first, she was a stay at home Mom during the day and held a number of part time positions in the evenings including Perth's and cleaning medical offices at Winnipeg Clinic and Medical Arts. Giovanna was a devoted wife and mother who always put other people's needs before her own as she catered to her family. Family was most important to her as she enjoyed spending time with her husband, children and the extended family. She was known for her homemade Italian cooking and spoiling her family who were the joy of her life. Her favourite pastimes were socializing with family and friends, playing Briscola and bocce. The family would like to thank the neighbours who came to Giovanna's aide. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association. Prayers will be said at 7:30 p.m. at Holy Rosary Parish Church, 510 River Ave., on Friday, October 17, 2014. Mass will be held the following day, Saturday, October 18, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. with Father Sam Argenziano presiding. She will be remembered by all who she touched. Giovanna was a gentle wonderful lady. I recall the afternoon we spent together shortly after we both had lost a son, we consoled each other and shared stories and memories and even had a few laughs. I have always been impressed by the closeness and caring the Tacchi family showed each other with Giovanna being the heart of the family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
