LARRY STUBER 1938 - 2014 On October 14, 2014, Larry Stuber passed away after a valiant fight with cancer. He was born April 15, 1938 in Rosebeg, AB, south of Medicine Hat. Larry was predeceased by his parents Michael and Esther Stuber. He is survived by his loving wife Barbara, daughters Donna Stuber of Brandon, MB and Sandra McRorie of Calgary, AB; three grandchildren Brandon Shanks of Estevan, SK; Jill Stuber of Winnipeg, MB and Shea McRorie of Calgary; two sisters Velma (and Ted) Fode, Brenda (and Peter) VanBeveren both of Medicine Hat, AB; plus numerous nieces and nephews. Larry joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1956. His first tour of duty was in Gimli, MB. He was then stationed in Trenton where he crewed on Yukons then it was back to Gimli for a second tour. He also spent two short tours in France retiring in 1978 from the base at Portage La Prairie. After his armed forces career he enrolled in Carpentry and Woodworking at Red River Community College and received his journeyman papers. He worked for Westland Construction for several years and was foreman of the construction of two R.C.M.P. buildings: one in Carman, MB and the other in Coronach, SK. The rest of his career was spent with his own carpentry business leaving behind many examples of his skills as a carpenter. Larry's wonderful sense of humour will be greatly missed. He was strong, capable and generous of heart and character. He had an exceptional appreciation for nature and took great enjoyment in making it part of his soul. He loved walking, biking, fishing and was an avid reader. His adventurous spirit was evident in the unique way he looked at the world. A private gathering will be held on Saturday, October 18 for family and close friends, with interment at Brookside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
