AURELIE ANNA TETRAULT (nee THOMAS) Aurelie passed away peacefully, at the age of 94, at the Poseidon Care Centre, Winnipeg, MB on September 30, 2014. Aurelie was born November 24, 1919, in Sedley, SK, the daughter of French immigrants, Aurelie Adrienne Charlaix and Victor Alphonse Thomas, who were homesteaders there. In 1935 during the worst of the Depression, the family moved to Ste. Anne, MB. At age 28, Aurelie married Arthur (Art) Tetrault and they were happily married for 53 years before he passed away in 2001. They built a cottage in the 1950s, just five doors down from her brother Etienne's cottage at St. Laurent, on Lake Manitoba where they enjoyed their summers together. Aurelie worked at the Hudson's Bay store in downtown Winnipeg for many years until her retirement. Her aging mother, who lived to be more than 100 years old, moved in with them, and Aurelie took care of her for the last 15 years of her life. Aurelie and Art never had children but they adopted a stray kitten found on their doorstep and named him Tiny. Aurelie is survived by her brother Alphonse (Alf) Thomas, age 96, in Edmonton, AB and was predeceased by her parents, her husband Art, and her siblings: Maria (British Columbia), Caroline (USA), Victoria (Manitoba) and Etienne (British Columbia). She will be fondly remembered by her nieces, and nephews. She was especially blessed to be kept safe and cared for by her wonderful and compassionate friends, Darlene and Debbie and their families, who stepped in and were the daughters Aurelie never had. The family is forever grateful as they played such an important part in her life. A special thanks to the staff at Poseidon Care Centre for their loving care.
