Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALFRED JAMES EMMS January 13, 1925 - October 20, 2014 With deep sadness we the family announce the passing of Alfred Emms on October 20, 2014 at the age of 89. Predeceased by his wife Ida (Pearl), parents Alfred and Catherine, brothers; Dave, Donald, Edward, Ernest, George, Bert and Arthur, sisters; May, Ida, Annie and Sadie, granddaughters Jennifer and Valerie and grandson Terry. Left to mourn his passing are his six children Alfred (Karen), Pearl (Renald), Ross (Janice), Steven, Roselle (Jess), Mabel (Tom), 16 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren, numerous other relatives and friends. Alfred was born on January 13, 1925 in Ideal, MB. Dad worked various jobs in Winnipeg for several years before returning to the family farm to help out his parents. On September 25, 1945 Alfred married Pearl McKnight they lived a short time near Oak Point, then moved a small house onto a quarter of land in Ideal where they spent the next 50 plus years farming and raising their family. Throughout the years Dad worked for various local farmers haying, fencing and field work. Upon retirement Dad and Mom moved to Teulon, where Dad could often be seen shovelling snow, helping out a friend or neighbor sometimes just sitting down for a good afternoon visit. Dad enjoyed watching the old westerns on TV and having a good game of rummy or checkers. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 27, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at MacKenzie Funeral Home Stonewall. Lunch to follow at the Stonewall Legion. Interment at the Oak Point Cemetery. Pallbearers are Dwayne, Slade, and Chad Line, Jay and Chris Sweezie, Steven and Ross Emms, and Kyle Batungbacal. Thank you to the staff at Tudor House for their care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society.
