EVELYN (EVE) WERRY Eve our devoted wife, mother, granny, sister and friend, passed away peacefully at Oakview Place Personal Care Home on October 23, 2014 at the age of 85. Eve is survived by her husband Ron; son Paul (Beth); grandsons Cameron, Logan (Viveca), Brian, Garin, Wesley, and Brendan; her daughter Kym (Ed); granddaughters Eryn (Michael) and Laura (David); sisters Rosalie and Sandra, many nieces, nephews and many dear friends. Eve was predeceased by her parents: Alexander and Rosina Cameron, two sisters: Joan and Margaret, and brother John. Eve was born in Winnipeg on February 1, 1931. She was educated at Isbister School, then St. Mary's Academy where she excelled in Art. She also enjoyed sewing and creating ladies' fashions such as wedding attire and other classic items. Eve enjoyed her years working with the Manitoba Medical Service where she met Ron. The courtship started with some misgivings on her part, but Ron somehow grew on her and a love relationship began. She was always forthright in decision-making, so when Ron's proposal was accepted and he told her that he would be joining the Army, she stated that if he was sent to places where there were snakes, she applied the restriction, "Then you go yourself." Eve married the love of her life on April 23, 1952. While Ron was serving Canada's needs Eve looked after the "castle" and their two children, Paul and Kym. Eve made friends easily and was very loyal and supportive of them. Many lasting bonds were made. Eve and Ron enjoyed traveling to many parts of the world. The Werry family lived in Germany and many Canadian provinces before returning to Winnipeg in 1971. They enjoyed their home on Southlake Drive with many family parties and events. Eve and Ron moved to the Vasa Lund Estates in Charleswood in 2001, where Eve adapted easily to her role as the Special Events Coordinator. A Celebration of a wonderful life will take place Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue at 2:00 p.m. The family would like to thank the staff at Oakview Place for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Khartum Shrine Transportation Fund, 1155 Wilkes Avenue Winnipeg R3P1B9 or a charity of your choice. I was so very sad to learn of Eve’s passing. My late husband Wayne (aka Odd Job Dehnke) introduced me to “Mother Werry” back in 1968 in Edmonton when we first started dating. He spoke so very highly of her and how she would take the young single soldiers “under her wing” and always made sure they were not alone at times such as Thanksgiving and Christmas I was in awe of this wonderful lady! As the years passed Wayne kept in contact with Ron and Eve and always called her "Mother Werry". Will always think of her when I make Turkey Tettrazini! My thoughts and prayers are with Ron and the family at this sad time. - Posted by: Sandra Dehnke (Friend) on: Nov 07, 2014

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Ron and his family on the loss of your dear wife, mother and grandmother. May the memories you have help you through this time. Although we only knew Eve for a short time, it wasn't hard to see what a special lady she was and that she will be truly missed by all who loved her. - Posted by: Tom & Sharon Forrest (Friends) on: Oct 27, 2014
