LORRAINE LARIVIERE After a lengthy illness, Lorraine passed away peacefully on October 24, 2014, at the Grace Hospice at the age of 85. Elle fut précédée par ses parents Gédéon Larivière et Léa Désautels, sa soeur et son beau-frère Louise et Emedio Buccini, et son frère et sa belle-soeur René et Betty Larivière. She leaves to cherish her memory, her sister Georgette Raymond (Normand); her brother Jean Larivière (Seana), a devoted friend and companion Eveline Châles, as well as a life-long friend, Lucille Blanchette, numerous nieces, nephews, very special grandnieces, grandnephews, relatives, friends and acquaintances. Lorraine will be remembered as a caring, sincere and people-oriented person. In her long teaching career, she fostered a love of learning ensuring that all students in her care had the opportunity to succeed. She went beyond the call of duty to help students having difficulty. Extra tutoring and guidance were available at all times and each student was always seen as an individual, Her interest in individuals was also manifest in the very discreet manner in which she generously assisted financially and emotionally many who crossed her path. In this respect, Lorraine's retirement years enabled her to give even more freely of her time. Many happy moments were also spent in extensive travelling with her good friend, Eveline Cháles. Grateful thanks for the special prayers, care, concern and support by family and friends, staff, doctors and pastoral teams at Riverview and Grace Hospice. Our gratitude also to Lucille Blanchette for her unwavering friendship and support. Condolences & Memories (6 entries)

  • Dear aunt Evelyn, thank you for your inspiring devotion and years of friendship to Lorraine. My heart and prayers are with you as they have been over the past months. Despite our physical distance my sisters and brother and myself have always had great respect and affection for the both of you. Once Gilles told me that, barely out of his teens, he was crossing Canada on his own he found a safe haven with you. His son also formed a strong bond with you when my parents brought him by for a visit. He remembers fondly getting into a water melon spitting match with his great aunt. I always remember your kindness from when I was six or seven years old. I offer my sincere condolences to you for your loss. - Posted by: André Raymond (nephew) on: Nov 11, 2014

  • I have known both Lorraine and Eveline from St. Joseph's Academy. Both were my teachers and they left a great impact on my life. Our paths crossed many times since then and we were always happy to see each other. When I did not see Lorraine & Eveline at the Fall Supper at St. Eugene on Sunday, I knew something was not OK. Today I found out why. My sincere condolences Eveline. You are in our prayers. Thank you for being the two best teachers I have ever had and I really appreciated both of you. - Posted by: Irene Martin (nee Beaumont) (Former student and long-time acquaintance) on: Oct 28, 2014
