RICHARD BRUCE THOMAS It is with sad hearts that we announce the sudden passing of loving husband, father, brother and friend, Richard Bruce Thomas. Richard fought hard to stay with us all, but his struggle came to an end on October 23, 2014, shortly after celebrating his 35th wedding anniversary to wife, DonnaMae Thomas. Richard is known for his work ethic, patience, and willingness to explain whatever you asked. He made friends easily, and once a friend, always a friend. Richard belonged to many organizations such as AECOM, American Society of Plumbing Engineers, Amway Canada Corporation, Certified Technicians and Technologists Association of Manitoba, The Kinsmen Reh-fit Centre (J.P), the National Fire Protection Association, Sea Cadets at HMCS Daerwood and the Senior Mechanical Technician group. He made friends in all. His smile was infectious, his eyes so blue, and his hugs so warm and comforting. Richard had many talents, but his most beloved were his hugs and the way that he showed love to all those around him. He leaves to forever love him and cherish his memory his wife DonnaMae, sons Andrew (Erin), Brandyn (Kyrsten), daughter Crysta-Mae (Michael), his "little boy" Duke, sisters Diane (Ron), Pat (Peter), sister-in-law Irene (Muz), and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Evelyn Thomas, his beloved brother Murray "Muz", uncles Gordie, David, Arthur "Jock", Gordon, aunts Helen, Louise, Joan, Carol, and father and mother-in-law Les and Elizabeth (Nannie) Palmer. A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 30, 2014 at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, Manitoba. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Richard to the Heart and Stroke Foundation and/or the Asper Centre/St. Boniface Hospital Pacemaker Clinic. Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • Thinking of Donna Mae and Richard's family. We were deeply saddened by your loss. We met Richard at Brandyn's birthday party. We were impressed by this very intelligent, friendly gentleman who made us feel as if we had know him for much longer than just one day. He will be missed by all who had the pleasure to know him. • To the Thomas family - so sorry to hear of your loss. I worked with Richard for many years and thought he was "true blue". I always enjoyed his common sense in discussions. I ran into him 2 years ago (I have been retired for a while) and we talked about retirement - so sorry he didn't get there. The Thomas family have a lot to be proud of. Unable to be there for the service as I am out of MB but will remember him that day. - Posted by: Shirley Edmonds (Co-worker at UMA Engineering Ltd.) on: Oct 28, 2014
