MARCEL GAUDRY The time has come to say farewell to our dad, grandfather and great-grandfather Marcel Gaudry. The Lord took his hand early Monday morning after a brief illness. Special thanks to the remarkable staff of St. Boniface Hospital and the transport team from Concordia Hospital. They cared for Dad with respect and compassion and the family is ever thankful. Dad was born in Lisieux, SK in 1923 to Modeste and Aldea Gaudry (nee Lamontagne) Dad was predeceased by his devoted wife and the mother of their five children, Rita Gaudry in October of 2007. He leaves to mourn two sons Claude Gaudry (Alida) and Gerry Gaudry (Pablita who passed in January 4, 2013), also three daughters Lorraine Lavack (Raymond), Jeanette St. Pierre (Marcel) and Cecile Wermann (Bernd), as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He came from a large family and is survived by two sisters Flo Hill (Don) in Arizona and Alice Weaver (late Bruce Weaver) of Winnipeg. Dad held a sacred place in his heart for his loving mother whom he lost at the tender age of 14. After a life of hard, manual labour, he retired early from the C.N. shops at 59 to enjoy a long and healthy retirement. He lived in his own home to the age of 90 and spent the last months at St. Benedict's Place under the extraordinary care of Francis Evers who went above and beyond the call of duty caring for our dad. He loved the people and spiritual companionship of St. Benedicts and absolutely loved his home there. He took up bike riding at the age of 90 and so enjoyed the grounds of St. Benedict's Place. Funeral mass will be held at his former home parish of St. Alphonsus, 315 Munroe Ave. on Thursday, November 6, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. where he attended mass daily as long as he was able to do so. Lunch to follow in the parish hall. Fr. Janusz Maron will be presiding. KLASSEN FUNERAL HOME 1897 HENDERSON HWY. 204-338-0331 Condolences may be sent to www.klassenfuneralhome.com

  • Our condolences to the Gaudry family. Marcel was a humble man devoted to our Lord. His participation at daily Mass and reception of Jesus in Holy Communion, his time generously spent with our Lord at Eucharistic Adoration on Wednesdays, even his unhurried genuflections towards our Lord in the Tabernacle, all spoke of his love for Jesus. May he rest in peace. May his reward be great. - Posted by: Cecile Small, Eva Campbell ( St. Alphonsus morning Mass, and Wednesday Eucharistic Adoration) on: Nov 07, 2014
